Job Summary

The Account Executive - Life Sciences (Top Pharma) will drive growth by expanding Surescripts' presence in the life sciences market. This role will primarily focus on selling and monetizing Surescripts' data and analytics solutions to leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, while also supporting the sale of electronic benefit verification (eBV) and Prior Authorization for Life Sciences solutions.

As the face of Surescripts for a portfolio of strategic pharmaceutical accounts, including Top 25 pharmaceutical manufacturers, you will build relationships with senior leaders, identify high-value business opportunities, and independently manage the full sales cycle. You will serve as a consultative partner, connecting customers' commercialization, patient access, and analytics priorities with Surescripts' differentiated data assets, insights, and technology solutions.

This role is ideal for a sales professional who thrives on identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within Top 25 pharmaceutical manufacturers and helping drive the continued growth of Surescripts' Data Solutions business while leveraging a broader portfolio of patient access and workflow solutions. Success in this role requires a blend of strategic account planning, executive relationship management, consultative selling, and a passion for translating data and analytics into meaningful business outcomes for customers.

Responsibilities
  • Drive Data and Analytics Sales Growth: Lead the sale of Surescripts' data and analytics packages, serving as a consultative partner to pharmaceutical manufacturers and helping customers address commercialization, patient access, market intelligence, and related business needs through data-driven solutions.

  • Sell a Broad Life Sciences Portfolio: Lead sales of Surescripts' data and analytics solutions while also identifying opportunities to deliver electronic benefit verification (eBV) and Prior Authorization (ePA) for Life Sciences solutions aligned to customer priorities and business objectives.

  • Lead New Business Development: Prospect, develop, and expand strategic relationships across Top 25 pharmaceutical manufacturers and other priority life sciences accounts, engaging executive, commercial, analytics, market access, patient services, and other key stakeholders to generate and close new business opportunities.

  • Strategic Account Planning: Develop and execute account-based sales/go-to-market plans with measurable objectives, clear opportunity strategies, and C-level visibility.

  • Manage Complex Sales Cycles: Lead all stages of the sales process, including prospecting, discovery, solution development, business-case creation, proposal delivery, negotiation, and contracting.

  • Drive Revenue Growth: Consistently meet or exceed quarterly bookings and revenue goals across data and analytics, eBV, Prior Authorization for Life Sciences, and other applicable product lines.

  • Translate Data into Customer Value: Partner with customers and internal subject-matter experts to learn and articulate how Surescripts' data and analytics capabilities can support customer decision-making and business priorities.

  • Market Intelligence: Monitor pharmaceutical industry trends, evolving customer data needs, competitor offerings, and product innovations to inform account and sales strategies.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams, including Account Management, Strategy, Product Innovation, Legal, Finance, Marketing, and other subject-matter experts, to develop solutions, advance opportunities, and support successful implementation and customer satisfaction.

  • Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Share life sciences, pharmaceutical account, and data solutions expertise internally to strengthen team capabilities.

  • Contracting Strategy: Identify and propose contracting and partnership models that align customer objectives with Surescripts' goals.

  • Champion Company Culture: Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, accountability, and sales success within the team and across the organization.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences, healthcare administration, data science, or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of sales or business development experience in life sciences, including a strong background in healthcare data and analytics sales. Additional experience in pharmaceutical commercialization, patient access, or related technology solutions is highly valued

  • 5+ years of experience successfully selling data and analytics solutions, with a strong emphasis on monetizing data assets.

  • 5+ years of experience closing complex deals of $500K or more within pharmaceutical manufacturers, patient support programs, healthcare data, or related markets.

  • Proven record of developing, selling, and monetizing data products using one or more business models (e.g., SaaS, enterprise licensing, volume/usage-based, revenue-share).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.

  • Experience guiding customers through product capabilities, integration strategies, and data utilization models relevant to their segment and business objectives.

  • Established success in building relationships with multiple SVP- and C-level stakeholders and navigating complex, matrixed pharmaceutical organizations to drive business outcomes.

  • Strong understanding of life sciences commercialization and the ways data and analytics can support commercial strategy, market access, patient services, and customer decision-making.

  • Ability to translate technical, analytical, or data-oriented capabilities into compelling business value for executive and functional stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce CRM, and AI tools such as Claude and/or Microsoft Copilot.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree, such as an MBA, or a related field.

  • Track record of success selling software, SaaS, services, or other complex enterprise solutions and achieving annual revenue targets through a combination of new business development and account growth.

  • Demonstrated network of relationships across pharmaceutical manufacturers, including senior leaders in commercial, data and analytics, market access, patient services, and procurement organizations.

  • Familiarity with regulatory, privacy, compliance, and contracting considerations associated with pharmaceutical data and analytics solutions.

  • History of developing innovative contracting strategies and partnership models.

  • Willingness and experience in mentoring sales talent within a growing organization

Travel

  • Approximately 50% travel within the United States.

On Target Earnings (OTE): $300K+

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
