Fuyao Automotive North America Incorporated (FANA) is in the general warehousing and glass manufacturing industry in Plymouth MI. We provide automotive glass for the North America market and currently have glass manufacturing relationships with some of the top automotive manufacturers in North America including GM, Honda, Chrysler, Kia, BMW and Hyundai. We operate several production lines for a variety of vehicle models from each of these automotive manufacturers.

TOOLING ENGINEER

Summary/Objective

The primary role of the Tooling Engineer is to develop the assembly fixtures, EOAT and automation line  in time and good quality as production requirement. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Understand and comply with all OSHA, safety and PPE requirement.
  2. Design, verify ,and follow up with tooling for each product
  3. Develop new automotive production lines
  4. Design and develop  fixtures and EOAT
  5. Verify, check and accept fixtures and EOAT
  6. Environmental, Health & Safety of self and colleagues including outside contractors or support personnel.
  7. Improve overall processes and related issues by taking a pro-active lead in the Continuous Improvement Activities. 
  8. Create, document, develop and deliver procedures to ensure the tooling meets all targets relating to Quality, Cost and Delivery. 
  9. Support the Quality group in evaluation and improvement of product dimensional reports.
  10. Support the Program management group in evaluation of new work and tooling.
  11. Program tracking and follow up of new program tooling scheduled for facility.
  12. Support all tooling launch activities.
  13. Project leader for all tooling related engineering changes. 
  14. Lead individuals and team meetings when implementing engineering changes, improvements, and major repairs.
  15. Tool and Die support during on-line troubleshooting and implementation of corrective actions
  16. Support the Tool & Die department with root cause analysis and repair plans.
  17. Focus on Tool & Die knowledge and implement continual training to employees. 
  18. Develop spare parts requirements and assist in procurement options.
  19. Support team functions by:
    1. Kaizen submittal and implementation
    2. Cross-training with others
    3. Backfills other work stations as needed
    4. Problem solving
    5. Supports operational metrics and meets operational needs

  • Previous Automotive Glazing System Tooling develop Experience

Supervisory Responsibility

Serve as a coach and mentor for this position in the department.

Work Environment

  • Internal: Office/workshops in plant
  • External: Various business divisions/Supplier area.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
 
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel 

Travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering Bachelor degree is required 
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) Stations (CATIA V5 and /or UG NX ) 
  • Experience in GD&T
  • Bilingual language is preferred  

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 1+ years automotive tooling experience preferred.
