Job description

Title: Tool Room Supervisor

Reports to: Mold Manufacturing Manager

Department: Faulkner Tool Manufacturing

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Mold Manufacturing Manager, the Tool Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily job assignments and scheduling of the toolroom department.  This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for assigning work projects to toolroom personnel.
  • Schedule projects in departments in accordance to due dates.
  • Assist as needed to estimate and prepare quotes for new tooling and various machining projects.
  • Attend project startup meetings and lead discussions on mold manufacture.
  • Record and document manufacturing procedures for projects to act as work instructions for the toolroom department.
  • Assist all toolroom personnel in daily work assignments and make decisions on proper procedures to follow.
  • Assist in coordinating work with outside vendors as needed.
  • Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Train, mentor and evaluate tool room personnel.
  • Manage tool room supplies, ordering and vendor coordination.

Other Functions

  • Approve employees’ weekly hours for payroll.
  • Approve employees’ vacation requests.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

  • Must be able to evaluate tooling and make recommendations on how to repair.
  • Leadership and team management.

Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience)

  • Associate degree or Tool and Die Journeyman card.
  • Minimum of 7 years injection mold building experience.
  • Ability to use CAD software to review part and mold designs.
  • Thorough understanding of the following machining processes: CNC milling, wire and sinker edm, surface grinding and mold assembly.
  • Demonstrated knowledge on use of precision tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft software
