Position Overview
The Tool Room Associate plays a vital role in maintaining the performance and precision of tooling used in high-speed manufacturing. This position is responsible for machining, repairing, and improving tooling, dies, and fixtures to support consistent production quality and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities
Tooling & Machining
  • Perform machining and tool room operations across a variety of materials
  • Repair, modify, and fabricate tooling components, including dies and replacement parts
  • Operate manual and CNC equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders
  • Support tooling refurbishment and precision part production

Precision & Quality Control
  • Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to maintain tight tolerances
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications
  • Maintain tooling inventory and prepare tool sets for production

Technical Support & Problem Solving
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings
  • Work with production and maintenance teams to resolve tooling issues
  • Identify root causes of tooling failures and implement solutions

Continuous Improvement
  • Assist with equipment rebuilds and tooling upgrades
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and extend tool life
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Qualifications
Technical Skills
  • Experience machining ferrous, non-ferrous, and composite materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
  • Familiarity with CNC programming, grinding (OD/ID), and jig grinding
  • Knowledge of tooling repair, fabrication, and rebuild processes

Core Competencies
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical or vocational training in Tool & Die, Machining, or related field preferred
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing experience (high-speed production preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with machine shop equipment and precision measuring tools
