Department: Tool & Die / Manufacturing

Reports To: Tool Room Manager / Operations Manager

Classification: Full-Time, Hourly

Based in Akron, Ohio, OGS Industries has 3 facilities with over 100 employees. OGS is seeking a Tool & Die Maker who is responsible for building, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying production stamping dies and tooling. Our tool room primarily supports existing production tooling purchased from outside Tool & Die makers. We build fixtures, and some tooling in-house, but the primary focus is keeping production tooling running safely and reliably.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, inspect, repair and test stamping dies, including progressive, blanking, forming, restrike, and other tooling. 
  • Diagnose dimensional issues, burrs, broken or worn components, forming problems, misfeeds, alignment issues, and other tooling-related problems. 
  • Machine replacement punches, inserts, die sections, blocks, pins, bushings, and other tooling components. 
  • Read and interpret part prints, tooling drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T. 
  • Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges. 

Tool Room Equipment

Candidates should have experience with or the ability to operate several of the following:

Proto TRAK CNC/manual mills • Proto TRAK lathe/ Manual lathes • Mitsubishi Wire EDM • Surface grinders • Blanchard grinder • Tool & cutter grinder 



Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Tool & Die / Die Repair experience preferred. 
  • Ability to independently diagnose and repair die problems. 
  • Proficient with mills, lathes, surface grinders, and precision measuring equipment. 
  • Strong understanding of punches, dies, forms, pilots, stripper systems, guide pins, bushings, springs, and related components. 
  • Ability to machine and fit components to close tolerances. 
  • Ability to read manufacturing and tooling drawings. 
  • Wire EDM and ProtoTRAK experience is a plus.

This is a full-time position - 1st Shift
