Job Summary
Participate in a one-year formal underwriting training program. Training will consist of formal case study assignments in applicable lines of business currently written by TMA Marine Unit, job interaction with underwriting staff as well as formal Insurance training (both internal and external). Training will be directly supervised and monitored by a Team Leader or Underwriting Manager A Training Program Schedule and Curriculum will be followed to ensure consistency in skill set development.
Essential Job Functions
  • Complete underwriting training assignments in accordance with the one-year time schedule provided. Training will be divided between case study (reading and testing) assignments and direct interaction with underwriters and managers during real life underwriting transactions. Training will include the following coverages: inland marine and ocean marine.
  • Assist underwriters in performing routine underwriting tasks within a closely supervised setting. This will include extensive communication with agents and brokers over the phone, in writing, and through email.
  • Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.

Qualifications
  • College Degree preferred
  • Good oral and written communication; and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Products and computer skills
  • Strong work ethic and initiative displayed on the job
  • Strong initiative to learn and expand current Insurance knowledge and skills set

Salary range $65,000 to $75,000. Ultimate salary offered will be based on factors such as applicant experience and geographic location. Our company offers a competitive benefits package and bonus eligibility on top of base.
