How you will create an impact
The Inland Marine Claims Manager is a key leadership position responsible for the proactive management of the Inland Marine Claim proposition. The role serves as the operational and technical manager for the Inland Marine Claim team members as well as the representative of the inland marine claim proposition to internal inland marine business stakeholders and external customers / brokers.
  • Provide strong operational & technical leadership across Inland Marine Claims with direct managerial responsibility for all claim activity and handlers, including claim financial transactions (reserves and payments), vendor & litigation management, recovery, and claim resolution in accordance with Total Cost of Claim objectives
  • Promote and drive a proactive customer claim experience leveraging VBA, Shared Service Operations and complex technical claim expertise
  • Maintain & upskill Inland Marine claim team skills by supporting and providing technical training, keeping claim staff current with industry customs & practice and attracting / recruiting superior marine claim talent
  • Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of Major Inland Marine Claims and CAT losses
  • Review and implement corrective actions for continuous marine claims operational improvement identified through claim / business operational metrics in the MBR / QBR processes in conjunction with country / regional claim leaders
  • Establish and maintain strong ongoing relationships with Inland Marine underwriting & business stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Inland Marine customers & brokers
  • Responsible to identify and report on Inland Marine claim trends, lessons learned and risk management opportunities with relevant stakeholders (underwriting, actuarial, finance, risk management)

  • Strong technical Inland Marine claim capability & expertise across 1st & 3rd party sub-lines of Inland Marine insurance
  • Proven people management and leadership skills.
  • Drive a culture that promotes excellence, collaboration,
  • Highly effective communicator (written, verbal, presentation, training)
  • Track record or demonstrated potential ability to identify/attract and develop talent
  • Ability to work with actuaries and underwriters on trends and loss identification
  • Identifies opportunities to improve process efficiency and ability to execute on transformation projects
  • Established strong relationships with customers and intermediaries
  • Demonstrated business acumen and skills
  • Inland Marine claim audit (internal and TPA) and catastrophe management experience
