Job Summary:
Raytheon is the world's largest aerospace and defense company, seeking a Network Architect to develop and maintain network architectures for classified and enterprise environments. The role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure secure and scalable network solutions while adhering to architectural standards.
Responsibilities:
• Design and maintain network architectures supporting classified programs and enterprise environments.
• Apply architecture principles and methodologies aligned with TOGAF and DoDAF frameworks to develop secure, scalable, and supportable network solutions.
• Collaborate with Senior Network Architects, engineering, operations, cybersecurity, systems, and program teams to develop solutions that meet business, mission, and technical requirements.
• Support architecture governance activities and help ensure compliance with established standards, security requirements, and best practices.
• Develop and maintain architecture artifacts, including network diagrams, design documents, technical implementation guidance, and supporting documentation.
• Provide technical guidance during the design and implementation of network solutions.
• Provide Tier 3/4 escalation support to operational network teams, resolving complex issues that require advanced technical expertise and architectural analysis.
• Support architecture reviews, design forums, technical working groups, and trade studies in partnership with Senior Network Architects.
• Assist with complex problem resolution and provide technical leadership for challenging network issues and modernization efforts.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute recommendations regarding their applicability within classified network environments.
• Collaborate with operational and engineering teams to ensure consistent implementation of approved architectures and designs.
• Support proposal efforts and new program activities by providing technical input and architectural guidance.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to modernization, standardization, and simplification initiatives across classified network environments.
• Communicate with parties within and outside of the immediate work group, including coordination with customers, vendors, and partner organizations as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting network architectures in enterprise or classified environments.
• Experience working with network technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, WAN, segmentation, encryption, and secure communications.
• Experience developing network designs, technical documentation, and architecture artifacts to support solution implementation.
• Experience applying architecture principles and methodologies, with knowledge of frameworks such as TOGAF, DoDAF, or similar enterprise architecture frameworks.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret DOD security clearance prior to start date is required, with the ability to acquire a Top Secret clearance after start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
Preferred:
• TOGAF certification, formal TOGAF training, or experience working within an architecture framework.
• Experience supporting classified systems, secure networks, and mission-critical environments.
• Familiarity with RMF / CSRM, NIST, STIGs, ICD 503, and other DoD security frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills, including experience developing technical documentation, network diagrams, and architecture artifacts.
• Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification.
• Experience with Cisco networking platforms and technologies.
• Experience participating in architecture reviews, technology evaluations, or network modernization initiatives.
• Experience collaborating across engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and program teams to develop and implement network solutions.
