As a Brentwood Firefighter you will be responsible for preparing for and responding to fire, medical, and related emergency calls and providing general support within the Fire & Rescue Department. You'll be a part of an accredited and award-winning department that remains committed to providing the highest level of fire suppression, fire education, emergency medical, and technical rescue services to the Brentwood community.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responds to emergency calls for fire, medical, and other emergency situations.
  • Removes individuals from dangerous/hazardous situations.
  • Performs all activities necessary to suppress/extinguish fires.
  • Assesses emergency medical problems and performs prescribed treatment as outlined and authorized under Tennessee Emergency Medical Responder guidelines.
  • Performs code enforcement, pre-fire surveys and building inspections; issues burn permits; maintains hydrants; provides education to the public on fire safety/prevention; provides tours of fire station facilities.

  • 21+ years of age
  • Sixty (60) credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university OR Thirty (30) credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university AND two (2) years paid structural firefighting experience

  • EMT-B (TN/NREMT)
  • Successful completion of a recognized fire academy or equivalent structured firefighter training program
