The Big Tasks of a Commercial Solar Sales Consultant

This position is based in Wauwatosa, WI - The right candidate must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.

As a Commercial Solar Sales Consultant at Current Electric, you will play a crucial role in driving profitable sales and guiding customers to informed decisions in the solar and renewable energy industry. The ideal salesperson will possess a wealth of knowledge about solar, industry trends, and regulations. Key areas of emphasis include pursuing and generating commercial leads to develop new accounts; coordinating site visits and preparing proposals, quotes, and presentations to potential customers; and collaborating cross-functionally to nurture leads and see projects through to completion.


Key Sub Tasks for the Commercial Solar Sales Consultant

  • Follow Company Processes: Adhere to company-established processes from the initial contact with customers to the close of sales, ensuring consistency and professionalism throughout the sales cycle.
  • Local Utilities Knowledge: Develop an understanding of local utilities and metering systems to effectively communicate the benefits of renewable energy solutions to customers.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrate diligent attention to detail in all aspects of the sales process, ensuring accuracy and professionalism in proposals and communications.
  • CRM System Proficiency: Utilize CRM systems such as Service Titan and Solar Graph to manage leads, track interactions and streamline the sales process (experience with CRM systems is a plus).
  • Lead Generation: Self-generated leads through networking, trade and educational event participation, focused on the benefits of solar power, supplemental battery systems and generators. Leads are also provided via our marketing systems.
  • Solution Identification: Learn to identify and propose the correct solar, battery, or generator solutions based on each customer's facility requirements, operational needs, and financial objectives.
  • Capability Assessment: Determine the facilities capability for utilizing solar or generator systems and accurately assess the size and specifications needed for optimal performance. Properly communicate the return on investment for the system.
  • Professional Representation: Deal effectively with all inquiries and represent Current Electric in a professional manner, building trust and rapport with customers.
  • Value Building: Build value in our company and products to gain enthusiastic buy-in from customs, highlighting the benefits and advantages of choosing renewable energy solutions.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Sales Experience: Previous experience in sales, networking, fundraising, canvassing or any fast-paced role demonstrating confidence, communications, persuasiveness and strong leadership and negotiating skills.
  • Proven Track Record: Minimum of 1 year of proven successful sales, customer service, or fundraising experience, highlighting your ability to achieve results and exceed targets.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures in a rapidly changing industry, demonstrating a proactive approach to professional development.
  • Customer Service Skills: Strong customer service skills with a focus on customer satisfaction, ensuring positive interactions and building long-lasting relationships with clients.
  • Judgment and Qualifications: Ability to use sound judgment in qualifying customers, identifying their needs, aligning them with appropriate solutions and helping them arrive at their own conclusion.
  • Industry Knowledge: While prior knowledge of solar systems, batteries and generators is a plus, a willingness to learn and develop expertise in these areas is essential. Current Electric will provide comprehensive training to the right individual!
