Job description

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, founded in 1916, is one of the largest providers of rehabilitation services in the State of Ohio. As part of our warehouse team, you will be helping us to achieve our mission by helping us process donated goods. Re-sellable items are used to support our mission of helping people with disabilities and our nation's veterans to go to work.
The Forklift and Baler Operator will be taking products from designated areas of the facility/warehouse and placing them in proper areas accurately and efficiently. Additionally, they will operate and maintains machine to compress and bale textiles and other materials. Ensures all items are received by machine whether conveyor loaded or hand loaded.
Must be able to pass drug test and random testing. Previous conviction of dangerous or violent crimes will exclude applicant from job.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:High school diploma or equivalent preferred. EXPERIENCE:Past forklift experience preferred but will train. KNOWLEDGE:Basic math skills and general knowledge of a forklift. Must be eighteen or older.

This is a safety-sensitive role because of the risks involved, it requires high level of responsibility and attention to detail. Under this role, employees agree to comply with the substance-free policy. There is zero-tolerance in place for substance use or impairment
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (INCLUDES PERCENT OF TIME ON TASKS)
  • Maintains an accurate inventory. Tracks seasonal inventory and reports to soft lines manager.
  • Moves all product in and out of inventory as needed.
  • Bales moved to storage area or loaded on trailer/container.
  • Provides empty gaylords as requested.
  • Loades and unloaded recycle trailers.
  • Weighs all bales and recyclable product.
  • Overtime as needed on nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to complete forklift training
  • Compress textiles and other recyclable materials with control button as needed.
  • Correctly tie off completed bale.
  • At times you may need to place a bale on the floor via the bale tipper.
  • Complete daily AM and PM checks and record temperature on checklist.
  • Daily housekeeping in general area and on baler.
  • Apprise supervisor when bale wire and other materials needs re-ordered.
  • Overtime on nights and weekends as required.
  • Assist in processing textiles either by hand loading or conveyor.
  • Frequently pushing, pulling, and lifting over 50 lbs.
PERODICAL DUTIES:
  • Provides backup to bale operators.
  • Assist in training other forklift operators.
