We are seeking a Project Engineer to support paint and surface finishing operations for new model launches at Our Client's Motor Manufacturing Indiana.
No direct paint engineering experience required - we are seeking a strong technical leader with proven project execution skills and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role will focus on capital improvement projects, equipment modifications, and process-readiness to support safety, quality, and delivery targets.
What you'll be doing:
  • Lead cross-functional projects that support new model introductions and equipment installations/improvements.
  • Develop scope, specifications, and validation plans for tooling, automation, and manufacturing systems.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and deliverables using structured problem-solving and effective communication.
  • Conduct equipment investigations and root-cause analysis; implement corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with Production Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, and OEM suppliers.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and change management while ensuring strong safety compliance.
  • Support production trials and report readiness status using Our Client's standards and methodologies.

Basics:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, any field is fine.
  • 2-3 years of engineering/project management experience in manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated success managing technical projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset using structured approaches (e.g., PDCA, 5-Why, DMAIC).

Preferred:
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical requirements clearly.
  • Familiarity with automated manufacturing systems and industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools (Excel, Project, Outlook); ability to adopt new software quickly.
  • Experience with commissioning and equipment buy-off at vendor sites.
  • Working knowledge of CATIA or 3D modeling software.
  • Exposure to North American safety standards and engineering specifications.
  • PMP or related engineering certifications
