Job description

Brayman Construction Corporation, a leading heavy civil and geotechnical contractor is seeking a full-time experienced Project Engineer in Evansville, IN. We are a leading heavy civil and geotechnical contractor with office headquarters in suburban Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Incorporated in 1947 as a family-owned business, Brayman has grown, diversified and evolved its construction services from a small bridge and concrete company to a large, nationally recognized provider of complex, heavy civil and geotechnical construction projects servicing both public and private sector clients.

JOB SUMMARY

The Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent in overseeing geotechnical construction projects, which would include contract management, change order preparation, project schedule updating, vendor/supplier management, quantity tracking, production analysis, progress billing quantities/construction units for invoice preparation, resource allocation and coordination, estimating, and material pricing/project buyout.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participates in project safety programs, observations and audits.
  • Assists Project Managers and Superintendents with project related tasks.
  • Tracks and reports quantities of work performed and understands associated costs of such.
  • Assists with quality control processes and testing operations
  • Communicates productivities to field staff.
  • Understands and communicates contract scope to field staff.
  • Serves as liaison and ensures communication between the field and office.
  • Acts as the primary engineer and contract administrator on small and midsize projects.
  • Assists in identifying and promoting changes to improve productivities and quality on the project.
  • Effectively communicates with Project Owner/Designer/Architect/Engineering regarding project schedule, issues and activities occurring on the project.
  • Develops RFI's, work plans and submittals for the project.
  • Assists in monthly financial reporting projections.
  • Develops extra work or change order negotiation pricing.
  • Develops time and material final pricing submittals.
  • Drafts purchase orders and subcontract agreements for review by the Project Manager.
  • Assists with CPM schedule development and maintenance.
  • Maintains as-built drawings and data collection with assistance from field staff.
  • Performs project specific tasks assigned by higher level manager.
  • Assists with new project estimating tasks; take-off, scope reviews, subcontractor and supplier solicitation, new work pricing.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (particularly Excel).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail.
  • Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to new challenges.
  • Must be willing and able to travel or relocate as necessary for projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, which may include Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management or the equivalent experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience with various types of heavy civil or geotechnical work including, but not limited to, mass concrete, post-tensioning, dams, drilling, soil nails, caissons, tie backs, shotcrete, slurry walls is preferred.

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a federal contractor.
