This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Vice President, Construction Management engineer for our Indianapolis, IN office. Be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
  • Bring a "best practice" mindset with an eye to constant improvement and quality in delivery of work product including developing comprehensive quality plans and working with independent internal and client quality assurance teams
  • Perform marketing and networking activities to develop and maintain strong client relationships, expand work, assist with developing strategic teaming partners
  • Develop staffing plans and schedules to meet task requirements, delivering technical excellence and quality work in accordance with project schedules and budgets
  • Develop pursuit plans to gain new clients for construction management and inspection services
  • Participate in alternative delivery project deliverables for clients such as constructability reviews, claims analysis, contract document drafting, and other related tasks
  • Manage and oversee transportation construction projects as the project manager or principal-in-charge
  • Assist in the delivery of medium-to-large construction projects as well as local infrastructure projects
  • Perform business development for current and new clients across Indiana while maintaining a balance of hours towards billable work
  • Review work in accordance with applicable codes and standards included in the project drawings and specifications
  • Responsible for quality control of field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, and surveying on projects
  • Aid with quality management processes
  • Apply diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently make decisions on significant construction engineering problems
  • Develop and maintain team inspection standards at high quality level of delivery
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or relevant field; or equivalent experience/education combination
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience including INDOT project experience with specific, demonstrated Project Manager / Construction Engineer experience on major projects
  • Professional Engineer registration (PE)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in the role of construction management marketing, Project/Construction Manager/Resident Engineer
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
  • Demonstrated team building and verbal/oral skills
  • Able to foster collaboration between technical and management teams working from other locations
  • Well-defined knowledge of relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
  • Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to travel for work when needed
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Must be United States Citizen

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with project time sets, estimating and constructability reviews
  • Experience leading projects with construction values over $50 million
  • Civil infrastructure (roadway/bridge) construction and/or program management experience with medium to large size projects
  • Keen understanding of pursuit management and client relationship building
  • Experience with local, state, federal and transit organizations in the state of Indiana
