Job description

Timber Products Michigan, located in Munising, MI, has an opening for an Electronics Technician. The position is responsible for installation, set up, testing, and adjustment of manufacturing machinery or equipment, using any combination of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or computer technologies, as well as maintaining, installing, and/or changing software programs and PLC ladder logic throughout the mills. This position necessitates being a catalyst in identifying areas where automation can improve the production process and offering ideas/specification for implementation;  performing troubleshooting and repair of defective equipment using a combination of drawings, schematics, diagrams, and other information; and investigating equipment problems to determine root cause of system failures and providing appropriate corrective action.

The ideal candidate will have a 2-year associate’s degree in Electronics or similar degree; three years’ experience and/or training in electronics or computer technology; or equivalent combinations of education and experience. Must also be proficient in either GE or Allen Bradley PLC ladder logic and able to perform electrical work as assigned to any classified electrician onsite with the intent of having an electrician present whenever possible for training.

The candidate must possess the ability to work in a time sensitive environment where priorities can quickly change, strong attention to detail, demonstrated ability to work on a team with other departments to collectively meet the organization’s goals and customer’s needs, excellent problem-solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and be highly motivated with the ability to work autonomously. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is desirable.
