Job description:

Merola Tile is a leading national tile distributor that proudly imports high quality, on-trend and emotionally inspiring tiles from around the world to suit a diverse flooring market.

The NJ Division of Merola Tile employs approximately 125 people and distributes tile in the U.S. and Canada through The Home Depot, independently owned tile showrooms, and numerous e-commerce retailers under the Merola Tile, SomerTile, and Elite Tile brand names.

Join Merola Tile — a leader in the ceramic tile industry — as we seek a hands-on, detail-oriented Maintenance Associate to support the upkeep and functionality of our facilities and equipment.

We are looking for a proactive individual who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, take initiative, and help maintain smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues in a timely manner.

Position Objective:
Ensure facility safety and operational efficiency by performing maintenance, repair, and cleaning tasks while following established procedures and minimizing equipment downtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow established cleaning and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for all employees
  • Complete minor facility repairs and perform basic janitorial duties.
  • Perform minor equipment repairs and report any major issues to management
  • Operate and maintain systems, tools, or equipment required for daily tasks.
  • Report major repairs or structural issues requiring skilled labor to supervisor
  • Keeps all work areas clean, safe, and organized.
  • Conduct general cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms, breakrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, remove trash, and disinfect surfaces as needed.
  • Cleans and disinfects toilets and replenishes supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
  • Ensure safe and organized workspaces; follow proper waste disposal practices.
  • Performs any grounds keeping, including general landscaping, snow/ice removal, etc.
  • Exhibit a cooperative and respectful attitude; perform other duties as assigned

Other Duties

  • Works in a safe and responsible manner to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace.
  • Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements.·
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly perform physical tasks in a warehouse environment, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or moving materials/move up to 50 lbs. Must be able to safely handle boxes, pallets, and other items using proper lifting techniques or approved mechanical aids. Occasional team lifting may be required for heavier or awkward loads. Reasonable accommodation may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role in accordance with applicable laws.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, required.
  • Valid driver’s license,
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including tugger, walker, rider, baler
  • Ability to operate facility equipment, including sweeper and scrubber

Work Environment

Work is regularly performed in a warehouse and manufacturing environment where temperatures may be extreme, with exposure to dust, odors, noise, and fumes. Noise levels are typically moderate. Employees may also be exposed to chemicals and cleaning agents on a daily basis.
