Tile Companies information

What are tile companies?

Tile companies are businesses that specialize in the manufacturing, distribution, or installation of tiles used in construction and interior design. They offer a wide range of tile materials such as ceramic, porcelain, stone, and glass for residential, commercial, or industrial projects. These companies may also provide design consultation, custom tile solutions, and maintenance services to help customers achieve the desired aesthetic and durability for their spaces.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a tile company role, and why are they important?

To thrive in a tile company role, you generally need experience in tile installation, knowledge of materials, and attention to detail, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant trade certifications. Familiarity with tools like tile cutters, grout mixers, and project management software is commonly required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills help professionals excel when dealing with clients and coordinating with team members. These abilities ensure high-quality workmanship, meet customer expectations, and contribute to the smooth operation of tile projects.

What are the typical team dynamics and collaboration practices in a tile company?

In a tile company, employees often work closely with a range of professionals including sales representatives, design consultants, warehouse staff, and installers. Collaboration is key, as projects frequently require clear communication between departments to ensure that orders are processed accurately and installations meet client expectations. Team meetings and project briefings are common, fostering an environment where feedback and problem-solving are encouraged. This cooperative structure helps maintain efficiency and high-quality service, which are vital in the competitive tile industry.

Job description

Description

 Journeyman Carpenter - Highmark Companies

We build legendary work - large-scale commercial frames, high-end luxury residential new construction, and meticulous restoration projects that demand real craftsmanship. Highmark Companies is growing across multiple divisions, and we need professional, dedicated, journeyman carpenters who've actually done the hard stuff and are ready to elevate their craft, the Highmark way. We're looking for two things, and ideally, you're both: a skilled framing hand who can take on fine, complex structural scopes without handholding, and a versatile tradesman who can move fluidly between our divisions - finish work, tile, exterior systems, repairs, installs - whatever the job calls for. If you take pride in your work, hold yourself to a high standard, and can operate independently on a complicated job site, you're the kind of carpenter we're trying to find. This position works across Highmark Builders, Restorations by Highmark, Exteriors by Highmark, and Highmark Home Services. Responsibilities:

  • Complex Framing: Execute large-scale, technically demanding framing on commercial projects and upscale luxury residential new construction. This isn't production framing - these are complicated builds that require you to think, problem-solve, and deliver clean work under a tight scope.
  • Restoration Work: Perform skilled carpentry within historic and high-end restoration projects where matching existing conditions and maintaining craftsmanship standards are non-negotiable.
  • Interior Finish & Trim: Install and finish interior trim, cabinetry, doors, and windows to a standard that      matches the caliber of the build.
  • Multi-Division Service Work: Serve all four Highmark divisions with broad hands-on capability: drywall hanging and finishing, tile, insulation, window and door installation, siding repairs, decking, roofing, and exterior facade work.
  • Demolition & Layout: Perform accurate layout and demolition across a wide range of project types and scopes.
  • Blueprint & Spec Interpretation: Read and work from blueprints, drawings, and project specifications with confidence and accuracy.
  • Independent Execution: Work with minimal supervision while staying aligned with site supervisors, Project Managers, and project requirements.

What We're Looking For:

  • Journeyman-level carpentry experience: you've put in the time, you know the trade, and your work shows it
  • Proven experience in complex, commercial or luxury residential framing: large and complicated scopes are where you're most comfortable
  • Genuine multi-trade versatility: you're as comfortable on a finish scope or a service call as you are on a frame
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately and independently
  • Experience working across restoration, new construction, and service/repair scopes is strongly preferred
  • Reliable, self-directed, and holds a high personal standard for quality and craftsmanship
  • Able to work independently and as part of a crew depending on the scope

What Highmark Companies Offers:

  • Competitive Hourly Wage - $30.00 to $45.00 based on experience
  • A $2,500.00 Sign On Bonus, paid after 90 days of employment.
  • Health Insurance - Company pays 100% of employee premium
  • Health Savings Account
  • Dental & Vision
  • Life Insurance
  • Long-Term & Short-Term Disability Insurance
  • 401K + Company Matching
  • Paid Holidays
  • Flexible, Generous PTO Policy
  • Profit Sharing
  • Employee Discount Programs
  • Paid Employee Referral Program
  • Strong team culture with real opportunity to grow across a multi-division construction company

Requirements

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Journeyman-level carpentry experience or equivalent formal trade training - this role is built for someone who has done the work, not someone learning it
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality workmanship across multiple scopes; you hold yourself to a standard whether anyone is watching or not
  • Strong working knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and both hand and power tools - and you show up with your own
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately and work from them independently
  • Solid understanding of construction math, layout, and measurements
  • Clear communicator - able to work effectively with crews, site supervisors, Project Managers, and clients on-site
  • Thorough understanding of job site safety regulations and best practices; you don't cut corners
  • Able to manage multiple tasks across different scopes, prioritize effectively, and stay composed under pressure
