Who We Are:

At SES Space & Defense, we deliver secure, resilient connectivity and integrated space solutions for customers operating in the world's most demanding environments. As part of SES S.A., a global leader in satellite-enabled communications, we combine capabilities across all orbits with extensive global ground infrastructure, managed networks, hosted payload solutions, and mission integration services to support communications, sensing, data transport, and operational resilience worldwide.

Our vertically integrated space and ground capabilities bring together satellite capacity, terrestrial infrastructure, advanced network technologies, and deployed user terminals to support mission-critical government operations around the world. We are a trusted partner to the U.S. Federal Government and national security community, allied governments, NATO, NASA, and other civilian agencies, delivering reliable, high-performance solutions when mission success is critical.

At SES Space & Defense, our people are our competitive advantage. You'll work alongside a mission-driven team committed to integrity, innovation, accountability, and delivering real-world impact for customers whose missions matter most.

*** This position is contingent upon contract award ***

What You'll Do / Impact You'll Own:

In this role, you'll serve as the senior technical authority for SES Space & Defense's C2/ISR transport infrastructure, leading the design, integration, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical communications supporting global Special Operations Forces (SOF) missions. You'll provide technical leadership across SATCOM, terrestrial transport, ground gateways, and enterprise networking technologies while ensuring secure, resilient, and mission-ready communications supporting worldwide operations.

  • Design, integrate, operate, and optimize enterprise C2/ISR transport infrastructure, including SATCOM, baseband systems, ground gateways, terrestrial IP/MPLS/SDN networks, and ISP interconnections supporting global mission operations.

  • Lead engineering efforts supporting RF terminals, gateway infrastructure, 5G/6G technologies, transport modernization initiatives, and mission communications architecture across classified and unclassified operational environments.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain network configurations, engineering documentation, runbooks, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures supporting enterprise transport infrastructure.

  • Perform site surveys, system installations, network activations, cutovers, acceptance testing, and operational validation to ensure successful deployment of mission transport capabilities.

  • Engineer and optimize network reliability, availability, latency, and throughput through Quality of Service (QoS), routing optimization, traffic engineering, and performance monitoring utilizing BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and related enterprise networking technologies.

  • Implement and maintain encryption solutions, Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) capabilities, network monitoring, telemetry, and automation tools to improve operational visibility, security, and mission readiness.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions supporting complex network incidents while collaborating with Network Operations Center (NOC), Technical Support Organizations (TSOs), cybersecurity teams, and mission partners.

  • Develop engineering test procedures, RMF documentation, STIG implementation guidance, and technical artifacts supporting accreditation, compliance, and secure network operations.

  • Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, program leadership, and customer stakeholders to support infrastructure modernization, technology integration, and enterprise engineering initiatives.

  • Serve as the senior technical subject matter expert for SOF C2/ISR transport systems, providing engineering guidance, technical recommendations, and operational support to ensure resilient, mission-ready communications worldwide.

Who You Are / Impact You'll Own:

You are a highly experienced Network Engineer and technical subject matter expert with extensive expertise supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF) communications, C2/ISR transport infrastructure, and mission-critical networking within Department of Defense environments. You combine deep technical knowledge with strategic engineering leadership to design, integrate, optimize, and sustain secure global transport solutions supporting complex operational missions.

  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility/access and the ability to maintain the required clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management, Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology, Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Communications concentration, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Network Engineer supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF) communications systems, including eight (8) or more years supporting C2/ISR transport infrastructure and mission communications.

  • Five (5) or more years serving as an Airborne ISR (AISR) subject matter expert supporting SOF communications systems and global mission transport operations.

  • Advanced expertise with SATCOM, baseband systems, RF terminals, ground gateways, IP/MPLS, SDN, routing and switching technologies, ISP interconnections, and enterprise transport architectures.

  • Extensive experience implementing and optimizing enterprise routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS, transport engineering, network monitoring, telemetry, and automation technologies.

  • Experience implementing Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC), supporting RMF accreditation activities, STIG implementation, secure configuration management, and enterprise cybersecurity requirements.

  • Proven experience leading site surveys, system installations, network activations, cutovers, engineering documentation, test procedures, and operational acceptance activities supporting mission-critical communications.

  • Exceptional leadership, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with TSOs, NOCs, cybersecurity teams, engineering organizations, program leadership, and customer stakeholders.

  • Advanced networking and cybersecurity certifications supporting DoDM 8140 requirements (e.g., CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Service Provider, CCIE, JNCIP, Security+, or equivalent) are highly desired.
