Manhattan Youth is seeking amazing individuals with a passion for early childhood at our Pre-K after-school program.

Our Pre-K Lead Teacher works closely with children helping to provide a safe and welcoming place. Counselors alternate between leading and assisting with activities (Art, Storytime, tumbling, etc.), engaging with children and adults, and supervising open play spaces.  Ideal candidates will be professional, friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic.  Preference will be given to candidates working towards, or with, a degree in Early Childhood/Education. Experience working in an early childhood environment such as Preschool, Daycare Centers, Pre K or babysitting/caregiving a plus.

Pay:  $45/hour
Schedule: Thursday and Friday (2:30 PM-6:00 PM)

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the well-being of Pre-k kids as they engage in activities and use the open play space; 
  • Ensure the safety of the children at all times and address occasional emergencies. 
  • Lead with activities as needed and facilitate children participation.
  • Facilitate a positive community environment for all participants.
  • Answer questions and maintain open communication with after-school members.
  • Follow all safety and emergency procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood, Child Development or related field; or
  • Child Development Associate Credential or other Office-recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period; and one year of experience related to caring for children; or 
  • 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field, with a plan of study leading to a Child Development Associate Credential and two years of experience related to caring for children.
