Drill/Threader Set-Up Operator
GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
This machine set-up/operator position requires the set-up/operation of manufacturing equipment with limited direction or supervision. The incumbent will possess and demonstrate the skills necessary to maintain production requirements and quality standards. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow all safety rules.
Maintain clean, orderly work area
Set-up and operate equipment as required.
Perform first piece inspection, monitor the quality of all parts, and make adjustments to maintain quality standards.
Perform the duties required to record data for SPC, ISO/QS documentation.
Move material by operating a forklift or using non-motorized devices.
Perform minor machine maintenance such as oil changes and tightening of bolts.
Assist and train other operators as needed.
Suggest process improvement ideas.
All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to complete Job Skills Training Matrix for Roll Thread/Drill Set Up Operator.
Ability to use all gages and gaging techniques required.
Thorough understanding of SPC.
Basic computer knowledge.
Knowledge in ISO/QS requirements.
Ability to set-up and operate one or more sizes/types of manufacturing equipment.
Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards
Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all required operator documentation.
Good teamwork skills.
Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems.
Use math skills for blueprint reading, gaging and SPC.
Possess the ability to assist lesser-skilled employees.
Demonstrate the understanding of the manufacturing process and machine requirements to perform basic and repetitive work assignments.
Provide written communication as needed.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and practices.
Preferred Skills & Abilities:
Minimum one to three years experience in direct or related fields.
Previous problem solving and troubleshooting skills/experience.
Formal mechanical or technical training.
Forklift operation/material-handling experience.
Experience operating multiple-types of manufacturing equipment.
TOOLS USED:
Micrometers, calipers, gauges, comparators, wrenches and other general tools and equipment.
Physical Demands could include but are not limited to:
Standing/walking required to perform machine setup/operation, material handling, data recording.
Sitting may be required to perform some machine operation and data recording.
Gripping/handling/fine finger movements are required for machine setup/operation, mechanical adjustments, gaging of parts, housekeeping, and control/switch operation.
Reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching are physical requirements associated with setting up and operating equipment.
Talking and hearing may be necessary to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors; as well as to hear alarms, pages, and machine noises.
Pulling/pushing of parts on wheeled devices may reach a weight of 300 pounds.
