Job description

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced freelance writer with a strong background in nonprofit organizations, social impact, philanthropy, youth development, education, or related sectors.
This writer will partner closely with internal thought leaders and communications stakeholders to create high-quality thought leadership content, case studies, annual report content, and strategic communications materials. The ideal candidate is an exceptional storyteller who can transform interviews, executive insights, and content briefs into compelling, publication-ready content.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ghostwriting, interviewing subject matter experts, and helping mission-driven organizations tell meaningful stories.
Scope
  • 100 hours to be used within 4 months
  • Potential for long-term extension based on performance and organizational needs

Responsibilities
  • Support annual report content development and other key organizational publications
  • Develop compelling case studies highlighting organizational impact and partner success stories
  • Ghostwrite thought leadership articles for executive and subject matter expert contributors
  • Conduct interviews with internal stakeholders, nonprofit leaders, and partner organizations
  • Translate complex nonprofit and social impact topics into engaging, accessible content
  • Adapt writing style to match multiple contributor voices
  • Collaborate with communications and leadership teams throughout the editorial process
  • Revise content based on stakeholder and editorial feedback
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines
  • Deliverable could include: Thought leadership articles, Executive ghostwritten content, Case studies, Annual report content, Website articles, Newsletter content, Strategic communications materials, and/or Social impact storytelling assets
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with nonprofits, foundations, associations, or community-focused organizations
  • Knowledge of youth development, education, philanthropy, fundraising, or nonprofit operations
  • Experience writing content intended for media placement and publication
  • Background in strategic communications or public affairs
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn thought leadership programs
AI Usage Expectations
The client is open to thoughtful AI usage for research, organization, and workflow efficiency. However, all final deliverables must be highly polished, human-centered, and demonstrate strong editorial judgment.
Certain content may require little to no AI involvement, particularly pieces intended for media publication or external thought leadership placements.
