Job description

WHO WE ARE

Breakaway Group is a next-generation live entertainment and media company creating experiences, content, and cultural moments that connect brands with highly engaged audiences. Anchored by one of North America’s largest independent touring music festival platforms, Breakaway Group has expanded into a broader entertainment ecosystem spanning live events, concerts, experiential marketing, content, media, and production.

Our portfolio includes:

  • Breakaway Live - Our flagship touring music festival platform, bringing premium two-day EDM/Pop experiences to markets across North America.
  • Breakaway Presents - Concerts, one-off events, and live entertainment experiences beyond the core festival platform.
  • Breakaway 360 - Breakaway Group’s experiential and brand activation business, developing custom experiences that connect brands with consumers in culture.
  • Breakaway Media / Studios - Breakaway’s content, media, and production capabilities, extending partnerships beyond the live event and creating year-round opportunities for brands to engage our audience.

Together, these businesses give partners the opportunity to activate across live experiences, experiential, content, media, and culture through a single Breakaway Group relationship.

THE ROLE

Breakaway Group is seeking a Director, Brand Partnerships based in New York City, reporting directly to the EVP, Brand Partnerships & Revenue. This role will be responsible for driving brand partnerships across the full Breakaway Group portfolio, including Breakaway Music Festivals, Breakaway Presents, Breakaway 306, and Breakaway Media / Studios.

This is a platform sales role for a dynamic seller who can think beyond individual events and properties to develop strategic, integrated brand partnerships across the Breakaway ecosystem. The Director will identify opportunities with brands and agencies, understand their business and marketing objectives, and build customized solutions that leverage Breakaway’s live experiences, experiential capabilities, content, media, and cultural reach.

The Director will own the full sales cycle, from prospecting and relationship development through ideation, pitching, negotiation, and closing, with a strong focus on generating new business and cultivating relationships with senior brand and agency decision-makers.

Working closely with the EVP, Brand Partnerships & Revenue and cross-functional teams across Breakaway Group, the Director will translate partner objectives into creative, results-driven programs. Partnerships may range from national festival sponsorships and custom live experiences to experiential activations, branded content, media programs, and integrated, year-round partnerships spanning multiple Breakaway businesses.

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, highly motivated seller with a strong understanding of culture, entertainment, live experiences, media, and experiential marketing. They have a demonstrated ability to open doors, build and navigate senior-level relationships, develop compelling partnership solutions, and close significant, multi-faceted deals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive new business development and sponsorship revenue across the full Breakaway Group portfolio, including Breakaway Music Festivals, Breakaway Presents, Breakaway 306, and Breakaway Media / Studios.
  • Develop and sell integrated, multi-platform partnerships that leverage Breakaway’s live events, experiential capabilities, content, media, and cultural relevance.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, outreach, discovery, ideation, pitching, negotiation, contracting, and closing.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior brand marketers, agency executives, media buyers, experiential leaders, and other key decision-makers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of prospective partners' business and marketing objectives and translate those objectives into compelling Breakaway partnership solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand individual sponsorship conversations into broader, multi-property and year-round relationships.
  • Create professional, strategic, and on-brand proposals and sales presentations tailored to partner objectives.
  • Collaborate with leadership and internal teams across creative, marketing, media, production, operations, and finance to develop customized partnership programs.
  • Work closely with the Partnerships Operations team and relevant Breakaway business units to ensure a seamless transition from sale to execution and successful delivery of partner programs.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and opportunities and provide accurate, consistent forecasting and sales reporting.
  • Represent Breakaway Group in client meetings, agency presentations, industry events, and networking opportunities.
  • Host and cultivate partners onsite across Breakaway festivals, concerts, and other experiences.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive platforms, emerging categories, brand marketing priorities, and developments across music, entertainment, experiential, and media.
  • Help position Breakaway Group as a holistic marketing and entertainment partner, rather than solely an event sponsorship opportunity.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5–7+ years of experience in sponsorships, brand partnerships, content, media, experiential, entertainment, sports, or a related sales environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of generating new business and consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Experience selling integrated partnerships across multiple channels or properties is strongly preferred.
  • Established relationships across brands, agencies, media, experiential, and/or entertainment are highly valued.
  • Proven ability to prospect, open doors, and develop relationships with senior-level decision-makers.
  • Strong understanding of how brands use live experiences, content, media, experiential marketing, and cultural platforms to achieve business objectives.
  • Experience structuring, negotiating, and closing complex, high-value partnership agreements.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills, with the ability to confidently pitch senior executives.
  • Strategic and creative thinker who can build solutions beyond standard sponsorship inventory.
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable working across multiple business units and functional teams.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and CRM/sales tracking platforms.
  • Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends around Breakaway events.
  • Flexible work environment
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching
  • Paid Vacation Plans
