Henderson Nursing and Senior Living Care is seeking a compassionate and skilled PRN Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) to join our dedicated healthcare team. This flexible, as-needed position provides specialized respiratory care to our residents while supporting their comfort, independence, and overall quality of life.

As a PRN Respiratory Therapist, you will collaborate with nursing staff, providers, rehabilitation professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to deliver resident-centered respiratory care.
Position Summary
The PRN Respiratory Therapist at Henderson Nursing and Senior Living Care is responsible for assessing, treating, monitoring, and supporting residents with respiratory conditions. This role helps promote respiratory wellness, prevent complications, manage chronic and acute respiratory needs, and respond effectively to changes in resident condition.
The Respiratory Therapist works closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized respiratory care approaches that support each resident’s needs, goals, and quality of life.
Key
ResponsibilitiesResident Assessment & Respiratory Care
Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and ongoing evaluations of residents.
Monitor respiratory status, including oxygen saturation, lung sounds, respiratory effort, airway function, and overall respiratory condition.
Develop and implement individualized respiratory care interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Recognize changes in resident condition and promptly communicate concerns to nursing staff, providers, and appropriate clinical team members.
Respiratory Treatments & Therapy Management
Administer prescribed respiratory treatments, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, inhaled medications, and other respiratory therapies.
Set up, monitor, and manage CPAP, BiPAP, and other non-invasive respiratory support equipment as ordered.
Perform airway clearance techniques and chest physiotherapy when clinically appropriate.
Monitor resident response to treatments and communicate effectiveness, concerns, or changes in condition.
Resident & Family Education
Educate residents and families regarding respiratory conditions, medications, equipment, and treatment plans.
Provide instruction on breathing techniques, airway clearance strategies, and respiratory health management.
Encourage practices that support respiratory wellness and improve residents’ quality of life.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation professionals, and other healthcare team members to coordinate resident care.
Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary meetings as needed.
Provide respiratory support for residents with complex medical needs, including those receiving comfort-focused or palliative care when appropriate.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of respiratory assessments, treatments, interventions, and resident progress.
Document changes in respiratory status and report significant findings according to facility policies.
Follow Henderson Nursing and Senior Living Care standards, professional guidelines, infection prevention procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
Equipment Management
Inspect, maintain, clean, and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment.
Ensure respiratory equipment is properly functioning and available for resident care.
Follow equipment safety procedures and infection control protocols.
Report equipment concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
Emergency Response
Respond quickly to respiratory emergencies and changes in resident condition.
Assist with airway management, CPR, and emergency interventions within the scope of practice.
Work collaboratively with the healthcare team during emergency situations to provide safe and effective care.
QualificationsEducation & Licensure
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
Current Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
Current BLS certification required.
ACLS certification preferred.
Experience
Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, senior living, rehabilitation, or acute care preferred.
Experience caring for older adults with chronic respiratory conditions preferred.
Experience managing non-invasive ventilation and respiratory equipment preferred.

Work Schedule
PRN (As Needed)
Flexible scheduling based on facility needs.
Opportunities may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call coverage.
Physical Requirements

Ability to assist with resident care and mobility needs as required.
Ability to respond promptly and effectively during emergency situations.
Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to infectious diseases while following established safety and infection prevention practices.
