Job Summary

A Ride Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of all equipment to ensure a safe operation. This position will focus on repair, construction, troubleshooting park rides, and help to establish preventive maintenance and inspection programs that maximize uptime and minimize cost.

Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Maintenance Director

Pay Range: $18 - $24

Location: Orlando/Kissimmee/Atlanta

Availability requirements: Full availability 

Work Status: Full-time over 30-hours per week



Key Objectives

  • Maintain the highest standards of safety on all attractions and rides.
  • Perform daily safety checks on park attractions and rides with a strong attention to detail
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on rides, equipment, and facilities ensuring complete compliance with the manufacturer's specifications and Park standards.
  • Diagnose and repair miscellaneous items around the park.
  • Responding to all maintenance-related radio calls in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Install new and/or repair wood features and structures across the park.
  • Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
  • Possess mechanical knowledge of the rides in the park. 
  • Efficiently handle multiple work orders.
  • Assist in installation and dismantling rides and attractions.
  • Respond to emergency situations and assist in ride evacuations. 
  • Keep all records and documentation updated daily, accessible, and organized.
  • Use specialty skills to address any plumbing, electrical, welding, HVAC, or other concerns in the park.
  • Maintain OSHA safety Standards, ride manufacturers, and Safety policies and procedures of Fun Spot.
  • Notify Director of Maintenance of any safety concerns or ideas. 
  • Provide excellent service to guests and team members.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the area.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Complete any other duties to assist with the operation of the park.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • 2 years of verifiable experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in an industrial or amusement setting.
  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical principles such as gear ratios, torque, proper use of common hand tools, common mechanical nomenclature, etc.
  • Ability to complete and pass training and competency tests for each ride.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with all guests, co-workers, and management.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to multi-task, work independently and have a positive attitude.
  • Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout the entire work shift and climbing/ascending heights, if needed.
  • Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors, and chemicals.
  • Compliance with Fun Spot America Theme Park's drug-free workplace policy, including consent to pre-employment drug testing and adherence to federal, state, and local laws regarding drug and alcohol use.
  • Successfully undergo a comprehensive background check and motor vehicle check when applicable.


Physical Requirements

The Maintenance Technician Apprentice role at Fun Spot involves various physical tasks and responsibilities. Therefore, candidates must meet the following physical requirements to ensure they can perform the job safely and effectively:

Strength and Endurance:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing ladders, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.

Manual Dexterity:

  • Proficient hand-eye coordination for handling tools and performing detailed tasks.
  • Ability to use both hands simultaneously for tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Mobility:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and move around the park and maintenance areas throughout the shift.
  • Capability to navigate confined spaces, such as under-rides or in maintenance tunnels.

Flexibility:

  • Ability to reach overhead, crouch, kneel, and assume awkward positions as required by maintenance tasks.

Vision:

  • Good visual acuity for reading manuals, operating equipment, and inspecting components.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, particularly in wiring and electrical tasks.

Hearing:

  • Adequate hearing ability to respond to verbal instructions, alarms, and safety signals in a noisy environment.
  • Balance and Coordination:
  • Good balance and coordination to safely work on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms.

Environmental Tolerance:

  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to outdoor weather, heat, cold, and varying levels of noise.

Safety Awareness:

  • Constant awareness of surroundings to maintain personal safety and the safety of others, particularly when working with machinery and hazardous materials.

These physical requirements are essential to ensure that the Maintenance Team Member can perform their duties effectively and safely, maintaining the high standards of safety and efficiency required at Fun Spot.
