Who we are

Texas A&M Athletics Department is committed to building champions through academic achievement, athletic excellence, and national recognition of student-athletes, teams, and programs. We are a proud member of the Southeastern Conference, with more than 650 Texas A&M student-athletes competing at the NCAA Division 1-A level in20 varsity sports.

What we want

We are seeking Academic Mentors for students in the Athletics Department at Texas A&M. The Academic Mentor will develop strategies for student-athlete's individual learning style, working with assigned student-athletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential. This is a part-time/temporary opportunity with non-standard hours, and a Bachelor's Degree is required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience working with students in an academic environment.

Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Willing to work non-standard hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.

  • Experience in the education system.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with assigned student-athletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential.

  • Provide general instruction in study skills, note-taking skills, test-taking skills.

  • Guide student-athletes in the development of time management and in developing organizational skills.

  • Develop strategies for the student-athlete's individual learning style.

  • Create daily progress reports using on-line system and may performs other duties as assigned.

  • Collaborate with Scholastic Supervisors and Learning Specialists about progress and individual student needs.
