It is one of the most prominent conferences in NCAA Division I, particularly known for its strong football programs. The SEC sponsors championships in a variety of men's and women's sports and is recognized for its competitive teams, passionate fan bases, and significant contributions to college athletics. Member schools include institutions like the University of Alabama, Louisiana State University (LSU), and the University of Florida.
