Job description

As Lab Technician II, you will be responsible for specific laboratory specimens, orders, and information disposition. A caregiver in this role performs specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems and performs general lab and quality assurance procedures. While this position is based out of Hillcrest Hospital, you may be required to float to multiple locations.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Receive andaccessionlaboratory specimens into the LIS.
  • Retrieve, sort,trackand deliver specimens.
  • Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems.
  • Verifyaccuratedocumentationrelativeto specimen processing.
  • Maintain patient,specimenand track data using the laboratory computer system, tracking and software/devices.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens.
  • Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).
  • Perform preventive maintenance and record keeping procedures
  • Perform basic clerical functions and places work orders

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of lab experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate'sDegreepreferably in science (or equivalent credit hours) will substitute for up to one year of experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include visual acuity and the ability to distinguish colors; manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment; may require extended periods of sitting, standing and walking.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $22.25

Maximum hourly: $22.25
