Job Description
The Global Sourcing Project Manager is a key member of the Supply Chain Team whose main responsibility is to ensure the launch of New or improved products is completed on-time, within all quality requirements and within budget. This person will be a critical member of New Product Development Project Teams and specifically manage the key dates of New Product Development, coordinating with Research and Development, Marketing and Operations. The Global Sourcing Project Manager will participate regularly in product development planning meetings and be the Sourcing leads to provide progress on timings, key dates that have to be met to keep the project on track, quotations, vendor resources and supply chain information on numerous projects concurrently. She/he will also be responsible for working with the Global Sourcing Team to select the most qualified vendor for a particular project(s).

Primary Responsibilities:


Proactively manage changes in scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans for both local and global projects to ensure Launch dates are met
Provide quotations, costing and schedule (lead-time) information with alternatives
Provide guidance on cost and time implications to Project Team on new ideas/changes
Lead in the US the sourcing project management and support for any sourcing change activity
Coordinate competitive and capable vendors to meet the needs of the project and business
Organize and present required information to assist with project evaluation and vendor selection to Project Leaders according to strict deadlines
Ensure that the Engineering Bill of Materials is set up in Navision from the onset of a project
Utilize Navision to track costs throughout a project for immediate review
Develop and maintain the Global Capital Plan

Interfaces:

Will communicate with the following daily:

o Suppliers(domestic and international)
o Project Managers for New Products
o Product Development Engineers
o Marketing/Channel Mgrs
o Forecasting/Planning
o Quality Department
o Finance


Required skills, experience - MUST have these:

5 years in a purchasing or sourcing role in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing major projects or initiatives and managing staff.
Strong project management skills
Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and work on several projects simultaneously
Strong cross-cultural communication skills
Strong negotiating skills
Analytical skills to support total cost of ownership type assessments
Knowledge of Logistics and Freight Forwarding
Experience at working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
