Job description

Jennie Joiner with Forum Group PNW is partnering with a well-established and growing nonprofit organization in Eugene, Oregon to recruit an experienced Human Resources Manager / Sr. HR Generalist. This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being hands-on, building strong processes, and making a meaningful impact within a people-centered organization. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the HR Manager will play a key role in supporting employees and leaders while helping strengthen and evolve the organization's HR operations. The ideal candidate will be someone who sees opportunities for improvement, takes ownership, and enjoys creating processes and structure where needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations and serve as a trusted resource to employees and managers
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and workplace concerns
  • Administer FMLA, OFLA, Paid Leave Oregon, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and unemployment matters
  • Support benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee benefit questions
  • Partner with Finance on payroll processes, reporting, and accuracy
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding efforts
  • Maintain HRIS data, reporting, workflows, and overall system integrity
  • Develop, document, and improve HR policies, procedures, workflows, and SOPs
  • Identify operational gaps and recommend solutions that improve efficiency and the employee experience
  • Develop and monitor HR metrics and workforce reporting
  • Support employee training, leadership development, and compliance initiatives
  • Partner closely with the Chief People Officer on HR projects and organizational priorities

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience; 7+ years preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and professional development
  • Strong knowledge of employment practices and Oregon leave requirements
  • Experience with employee relations, benefits, leave administration, recruiting, and HR operations
  • Strong HRIS and Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization
  • Strong emotional intelligence, judgment, professionalism, and discretion
  • Ability to recognize process gaps and take ownership of developing and implementing solutions
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a growing environment
  • SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus but not required

This is a hands-on HR Manager position without direct reports currently, although there may be an opportunity to supervise additional HR staff as the organization grows. The successful candidate should enjoy working in the details and be comfortable handling transactional responsibilities rather than relying on a team to do so. The position is primarily onsite in Eugene, Oregon, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to work remotely occasionally when personal needs arise. The organization offers a collaborative leadership environment, strong benefits, generous time off, retirement benefits, and excellent opportunity for continued professional growth.

If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership, build and improve HR operations, and make a meaningful impact within a growing Eugene nonprofit, reach out to Jennie Joiner directly to find out more or apply online today!
