WHAT YOU’LL DO

Join the team that maintains the most unique turf and landscape in sports. The Golf and Grounds Department is responsible for maintaining the ‘hallowed’ grounds of the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, including the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course.

Full and Flexible Work Schedules are available. Full Schedule includes M-F plus one weekend day with 40+ of work per week. Our flexible scheduling fits employee needs with schedules ranging from 2-6 days per week while hours can range from 15 to 40+ hours per week depending on applicant. Dependent on employee and availability, work throughout the winter may be available.

This position is perfect for anyone pursuing a career in golf course or grounds management, as well as retirees, college students, or anyone looking to work outdoors and have flexible hours.         

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains grounds and landscaping associated with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Campus.
  • Maintains Brickyard Crossing Golf Course providing a high-end golfing experience. 
  • Safely operates power equipment to mow turf, clean grounds, remove leaves, trash, and other debris.
  • Maintains mowing, watering, chemical applications, and cultural maintenance practices of all IMS turf and landscape areas.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Assists horticulture team in the daily maintenance and installation of landscape beds.
  • Assists in the preparation of the golf course for daily play.
  • Assists in the preparation of the grounds for events and daily visitors.
  • Cutting, trimming, pruning, and removal of trees.
  • Applies plant protectant and fertilizers to turf, landscapes, and trees.
  • Establish and plant grass, flower, trees, and shrubs from seed, sod, and transplanting.
  • Waters lawns, shrubs, and golf course turf as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently work outdoors, which requires physical strength and stamina to endure extreme heat, cold, rain and other adverse weather conditions.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be loud, due to professional racing events and mowing equipment.
