Job description

As a Spa Supervisor, you oversee the guest, receptionist/attendant, and service provider experience within The Blake Spa & Wellness Center. You have a great attention to detailand put a personal touch that says every guest is special. You have a strong knowledge of massage and aesthetics modalities and their benefits, and you have personal experience in the world of wellness and healing. You are well-versed in skin types, skincare products, and ingredients, and share this passion with guests and other staff. You understand what it takes to offer a seamless guest experience even during peak periods.


As Blake staff member, you are knowledgeable about Taos Ski Valley, The Blake Hotel and The Spa, and able to provide direction to guests regarding packages offered, hours of operation, class schedules of The Wellness Center, mountain statistics, and the adventurous offerings of our scenic surroundings.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to policies of Taos Ski Valley, Inc.
  • Greets and helps Blake guests and visitors navigate The Blake, The Spa and Wellness Center and TSV.
  • Optimizes appointment book and staff schedule to enhance guest experience and support spa revenue goals.
  • Strong knowledge of The Blake Spa and Wellness Center's services and products.
  • Ability to process all spa transactions and troubleshoot issues occurring with point-of-sale and scheduling software.
  • Submits paperwork and financial reporting, when applicable, in accordance with policies.
  • Maintains and improves spa and wellness center facilities through routine maintenance and visual checks.
  • Conducts supply and product inventory checks.
  • Ensures facility is only accessed by policy adhering guests, and that it is safe and secure at all times.
  • Manages checklists and ensure all staff tasks are regularly accomplished.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of guest and staff spaces.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with staff regarding well being and performance of job responsibilities.
  • Assists staff with lifting and storing facility equipment, furniture, and products, especially for special events.
  • Assesses contraindications of guest that may require modification of the service or prevent the service from taking place. Communicates all contraindications to service providers both verbally and in guest profiles.
  • Meets guests' needs through engaging in active listening from guest check-in to check-out.
  • Recommends products for at-home care.
  • Suggests beneficial complementary treatments.
  • Ensures service providers maintain their schedule by starting and ending all treatments on time.
  • Attends regular meetings with Spa Manager and supports Spa Manager with staff performance management, hiring, guest resolution and payroll.
  • Works assigned schedule and arrives and departs from shift on time.
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and professional development trainings.
  • Reports any incidents or accidents to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • A minimum of five years experience working in spa, a wellness/fitness center and or wellness industry.
  • A minimum of five years experience in customer service and or hospitality in addition to atleast three years in management
  • Growing knowledge of various spa treatments/services and massage modalities
  • Literacy in anatomy, common injuries, health conditions and medications
  • Ability to explain various treatments/services and educate guests on target areas that were visited in treatment and offer at-home care.
  • Must be able to manage time, maintain an organized workspace, and be able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously.
  • Must have a professional manner, use discretion with guests and other staff, and have a polished appearance while working.
  • Demonstrates comfort level in product knowledge and product recommendation.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters with spa guests and other staff. Work conditions will include exposure to a variety of odors and smells as well as different cleaning supplies and skincare products.

Physical Demands of Position Include:

The Spa Supervisor position requires you to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally group lift up to 50 pounds. This position requires you to be able to talk, hear, smell, stand and walk 40% of the time and to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend 10% of the time.


This position will require you to clean floors, surfaces and spa machinery and tools like hot stones, hot packs, hot towel cabinet and electric treatment tables. You will occasionally be asked to stock and touch a variety of skincare products. You will spend about 50% of the job on the computer and cellular phone navigating scheduling software, point-of-sale and Microsoft Suites.
