Job description

About Elevado

Elevado is a hybrid AI production studio in Los Angeles working at the intersection of AI, design, VFX, and live action. Our team is small, collaborative, and fast-moving. We partner with major brands and entertainment clients to create visually ambitious work that pushes new creative and technical boundaries.

We're looking for an AI Art Director with a sharp visual eye, strong commercial instincts, and a deep interest in emerging technologies. If you're passionate about the future of image-making and love exploring new tools, you'll fit right in.

Position Overview

As an AI Art Director you will concept, design, and direct AI-driven visuals across campaigns, short-form content, and experimental R&D. You'll collaborate closely with creative directors, producers, and AI artists to shape the look and feel of our work. You should be comfortable switching between ideation, hands-on image creation, video development, and visual refinement.

Location and Salary

This is a full-time, exempt three month contract-to-hire role with a salary range of $90,000-$120,000. Ideally this person will be LA-based and available to come into the Saylor office in Echo Park two days a week. If not in LA, this person must be able to work west-coast hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead visual development using AI tools for stills, motion, and mixed media.
  • Create styleframes, look development, and visual concepts across commercial projects.
  • Build and iterate prompts, pipelines, and workflows using leading AI tools.
  • Provide creative direction to internal teams and contribute to pitches, treatments, and social projects.
  • Edit and assemble short-form video for tests, mood pieces, and client-facing pieces (basic to intermediate editing ability is fine).
  • Stay on the forefront of emerging visual tools, platforms, and creative techniques.
  • Collaborate closely with a small team, adapting to varied tasks and shifting client needs.
  • Comfort presenting visual ideas internally and helping refine work for client review is important.
  • This role is not just prompt experimentation or tool testing. We're looking for someone who can translate AI capabilities into polished, client-ready visuals with strong taste and commercial intent.

Tools and Platforms

Experience with some or most of the following:

  • Image tools: Midjourney, ComfyUI, Flux, WAN, Nano Banana
  • Video tools: Seedance, Kling, Veo, Runway, or similar
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator
  • Bonus: 3D, motion design, look dev, or generalist VFX experience

What We're Looking For

  • 5 - 7 years experience in commercial production
  • A strong visual aesthetic and portfolio that shows taste, craft, and intention
  • Commercial experience in any of the following: art direction, design, motion design, creative direction, animation, or VFX
  • Familiarity with editing and motion basics
  • Active awareness of culture, art, film, fashion, and media
  • Proactive creative energy and a desire to experiment, iterate, and make things constantly
  • Social media savvy and ability to think in short-form visual formats
  • Curious, flexible, problem-solving mindset
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a growing team
  • Friendly, personable, and easygoing
  • Based in Los Angeles

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary, health insurance, 401k, generous vacation, and great opportunities for growth within the company.
