This position is critical to maintain the overall integrity of all Peter Millar products. The Apparel Product Development Manager works closely with the Design and Production teams to manage technical style details and finalize new product to prepare for bulk production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Build, maintain, and own style information and tech packs in our PLM system including BOM and construction details as well as base size specs and grading information.
  • Translate design concepts into technical specifications and production-ready samples.
  • Manage development timelines to ensure on-time delivery for seasonal calendars.
  • Manage the product evaluation process. Measure products and fit throughout the development process, adjust specs, and make construction recommendation as needed.
  • Collaborate with design, merchandising, and production teams to ensure cohesive execution of product assortment.
  • Manage all Style Setup communication from design to production to ensure there is a seamless transition from teams.
  • Assist in material management. Requesting profile sheets, spec sheets, testing, managing SMS and bulk submits. Maintain a clean and organized fabric library for all submits
  • Troubleshoot product for construction or trim quality concerns including snaps, buttons, labels and overall craftsmanship with careful attention to detail
  • Manage all material and trim color management throughout the season from lab dips to bulk submits.
  • Create product specs, grade sizes for new product models, and manage information in the PLM system

  • Communicate regularly with the Quality and Compliance Manager to transition products from development to bulk and TOP samples
  • Manage competitor product comparisons, internal product comparisons and other ongoing projects.
  • Main point of contact for mill and factory communication regarding all fabric, trim, and garment development.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have 3-4 years of experience in the apparel business
  • Bachelor's degree in fashion design, technical design / apparel development, textile development
  • 2D pattern experience
  • Demonstrate a strong command of garment construction, in applying industry standard finishings and methods of assembly.
  • Proven high skill level with PLM Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Suite required
  • Accurate color vision, with a keen eye for color, hue, and depth. The Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test will be used as the benchmark.
  • Willingness to travel both in the US and globally if required to meet with vendors
  • Experience with PLM systems preferred.
