Signal Testing Technician
Location: Naperville, IL
Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $30.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM (hours may vary)
Duration: 3-4 week project beginning July 6, 2026
Work Model: Onsite
Overview
System One is seeking reliable and detail-oriented Signal Testing Technician for an upcoming telecommunications testing project in the Naperville, Illinois area. This project supports communication systems used by first responders, including firefighters, police departments, EMS personnel, and other emergency services.
As a Signal Testing Technician, you will travel throughout the Naperville area collecting and monitoring wireless signal data using specialized testing equipment and software. The role involves working from a vehicle, monitoring signal strength and coverage performance, and documenting testing results in real time.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are comfortable using laptops and technology, enjoy being on the road, and can follow established testing procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct wireless signal testing throughout the Naperville area as part of a public safety communications project.
  • Monitor signal coverage and performance using a laptop and testing software.
  • Observe and document signal quality indicators and report any areas of concern.
  • Travel in a vehicle throughout designated testing routes.
  • Operate testing equipment according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing activities and results.
  • Assist with troubleshooting basic equipment or software issues as needed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and project requirements.
  • Serve as a driver when needed and maintain a safe driving record throughout the project.

Requirements
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review.
  • Basic computer skills and comfort using laptops and software applications.
  • Ability to learn and use testing equipment and applications with minimal training.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to sit in a vehicle for extended periods while traveling throughout testing routes.
  • Availability for the full duration of the project beginning July 6, 2026.
  • Prior telecommunications, field testing, technical, or driving experience is a plus but not required.
