Job description

Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research, Inc. (WMT&R) is recognized as a world leader in materials testing for the Aerospace, Automotive, Nuclear, and Medical industries. The materials we test are used in commercial aircraft, national defense applications, rockets, medical products, and many other critical applications.
Our global reputation for high-volume, quick-turnaround testing is made possible by our dedicated team of professionals who work together to provide our customers with accurate, reliable, and timely results. WMT&R is currently seeking an organized, detail-oriented Technical Administrative Assistant to join our team in the Latrobe/Youngstown, PA area.
This position plays an important role in supporting our engineers, laboratory teams, and customers throughout the testing process. The Technical Administrative Assistanthelps ensure that customer samples, documentation, and job packets are accurately organized, tracked, and directed to the appropriate areas throughout our facility.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our engineers and technical staff while gaining exposure to the materials testing industry. You will assist with the creation of customer certifications, maintain documentation to ensure the traceability of each order, update workflow information, and help make sure samples get where they need to go throughout the testing process. Depending on department needs, you may also assist with hands-on sample preparation and other operational tasks.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys staying organized, working with computers, communicating with different teams, and being part of a fast-paced environment where accuracy and attention to details matter.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Occasional Weekends as needed
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside engineers, laboratory personnel, and other team members to support the processing and tracking of customer samples and orders
  • Assist with the creation, preparation, and organization of customer certifications and related documentation
  • Organize and maintain job packets to ensure accurate documentation and traceability throughout the testing process
  • Help coordinate and track samples to ensure they are directed to the appropriate departments and testing areas
  • Enter, update, and maintain information in spreadsheets and internal systems used to track laboratory workflow
  • Draft, review, and organize correspondence, reports, and other formal documents
  • Review documentation and data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems
  • Communicate with internal departments to help keep customer orders and testing processes moving efficiently
  • Assist with hands-on sample preparation or other operational tasks as needed
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:
  • U.S. Citizenship is strictly required for national defense and aerospace compliance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Computer proficiency is required, including the ability to confidently navigate computer-based systems and perform routine data entry and document management
  • Some experience using Microsoft Office products is required, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and other organizational or planning tools preferred
  • Previous experience in office administration, clerical support, data entry, or a related field is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workflow needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
