Senior Test Engineer

Senra Systems

Cypress, CA • On-site

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement, PTO

Posted 20 days ago

Job description

At Senra Systems, we believe that the future of manufacturing lies not in automation, but in configuration.

We supercharge electrical wire harness manufacturing through software configuration, transforming skilled assembly tasks into high-throughput production lines. We enable customers to design what they want, when they want it and deliver harness builds at record-breaking speed.

We're continuing to build the test organization at Senra Systems and are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to serve as a key technical leader of the function. This role goes beyond executing and developing test programs. You will be the senior technical authority for electrical test across the factory, responsible for establishing best practices, reviewing and approving test programs, solving the most challenging technical problems, and developing the next generation of Test Specialists.

You'll partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Program Management to ensure every harness leaves the factory with robust, repeatable, and scalable verification processes.

If you enjoy solving difficult technical problems, mentoring others, and building systems, not just running them, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the senior technical subject matter expert for electrical test across Senra Systems.
  • Review, approve, and provide technical oversight for test programs developed by other Test Specialists prior to release.
  • Establish and continuously improve standards, templates, and best practices for test program development, fixture design, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Lead technical investigations for the most complex electrical failures, intermittent issues, and first-build challenges.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to improve overall testability of new products and production processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase test robustness, throughput, and scalability.

Test Program Development & Fixture Ownership

  • Author and maintain test programs for the Cirris CH2 platform across all active part numbers, including continuity, shorts, resistance verification, and high-voltage testing.
  • Support additional automated and manual test platforms as Senra expands its test capabilities.
  • Design, build, and maintain test fixtures and interface adapters for Senra's connector library and harness configurations.
  • Maintain strict revision control to ensure all deployed programs match released engineering documentation.
  • Develop and maintain hipot test setups and parameters per customer and program-specific requirements.

Test Execution

  • Own end-of-line and in-process electrical testing while developing repeatable workflows that can be successfully transitioned to production personnel where appropriate.
  • Execute testing using automated and manual equipment while ensuring compliance with engineering documentation and work instructions.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical verification per IPC/WHMA-A-620 and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all test equipment is operated safely and remains within calibration requirements.

First Article & Customer Support

  • Lead electrical verification activities for First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Serve as the senior technical representative during customer witness testing and source inspections.
  • Partner with Quality and Engineering to resolve technical questions related to test acceptance criteria and engineering dispositions.

Documentation & Quality

  • Generate and review test reports, Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), and Nonconformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Ensure complete traceability between test data, program revisions, serial numbers, and engineering documentation.
  • Maintain records supporting customer deliverables and AS9100 compliance.

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Mentor and develop Test Specialists through hands-on coaching, technical reviews, and structured knowledge transfer.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for complex troubleshooting and technical questions.
  • Provide technical onboarding and training for new team members.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and ownership within the test organization.

Test Station & Equipment Stewardship

  • Own calibration status, fixture inventory, consumables, and 5S standards for the test area.
  • Coordinate calibration activities and equipment maintenance.
  • Recommend new equipment, tooling, fixtures, and technologies that improve quality and efficiency.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in electrical test, manufacturing engineering, production test, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals, including continuity, resistance, insulation resistance, dielectric withstand (hipot), and Ohm's Law.
  • Extensive experience developing automated electrical test programs and fixtures for complex electromechanical assemblies.
  • Demonstrated expertise with automated wire harness test equipment (Cirris experience strongly preferred).
  • Experience performing hipot/dielectric withstanding testing in a production environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex electrical failures and determine root cause.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wire lists, connector drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 acceptance criteria.
  • Experience authoring test reports, CoCs, NCRs, and engineering documentation within an aerospace or defense environment.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring junior technicians or engineers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize work across multiple programs.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident).

Preferred

  • Experience working within an AS9100 or NASA 8739.4 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with RF cable testing, including insertion loss (S21), return loss, VSWR, and vector network analyzers.
  • Experience supporting customer witness testing and First Article Inspection activities.
  • Experience designing custom test fixtures using machining, CAD, or 3D printing.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 CIS or CIT certification.
  • Experience reviewing or approving technical work completed by other engineers or specialists.

Success in this Role

By the first year, success looks like:

  • The technical quality and consistency of all test programs has significantly improved through standardized review and approval.
  • Test Specialists are becoming increasingly independent through mentorship and technical coaching.
  • Complex troubleshooting issues are resolved quickly and systematically using structured root cause analysis.
  • Test fixtures, programs, and documentation are standardized, scalable, and consistently aligned with released engineering.
  • The test organization is viewed as a technical center of excellence that enables rapid, high-quality production.
