The Lead Software Test Engineer is responsible for driving the overall quality strategy of our software products by leading a team of testers while also remaining hands-on in test planning and execution. This role ensures that testing practices are robust, efficient, and aligned with project goals, directly influencing release reliability, team performance, and customer satisfaction.

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering and is part of the R&D Software team located in Indianapolis, Indiana and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of software test engineers, serving as their direct manager and providing ongoing performance feedback and career development support.

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve test strategies, frameworks, and processes across multiple projects.

  • Perform hands-on testing activities, including test planning, test case development, execution, and defect analysis, to ensure high quality releases.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and project teams to align testing efforts with business priorities and release goals.

  • Introduce and champion best practices in automation, continuous integration, and quality metrics.

  • Drive root cause analysis and quality improvements that reduce defects and increase release reliability.

  • Influence technical direction and quality standards across the organization through data driven insights and strong cross team communication.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or equivalent

  • 9 or more years of related experience, including 2 or more years of experience in a software leadership position

  • Proven experience managing, leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of software test engineers

  • Ability to attract, retain, and grow top engineering talent through effective leadership and people management

  • Strong proficiency in creating test plans, test cases, and test execution strategies for complex systems

  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools, frameworks, and continuous integration environments

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working closely with engineering and product teams

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Projects involving both software and hardware components

  • Software verification of medical devices and working knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations

The salary range for this role $125,000 - $150,000.This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.

We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
