Job Description

You have the opportunity to join a leading innovator in Industrial Automation that values differences and treats employees and customers with respect; encourages creativity and promotes continuous improvement and innovation. Rockwell Automation is looking for an innovative engineer to join our global embedded software organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to steer and design Logix Controller product developer generated test architecture.

You will report to the Senior Manager Test engineering and have a hybrid work schedule, working from Mayfield Hts, OH or Milwaukee , WI office

Essential Functions
  • Participate in test architecture of safety- and security-critical embedded software for Programmable Logic Controllers to support the needs of a dynamic development lifecycle
  • Use modern continuous integration and development tools, and promote continuous improvement of engineering tools and practices across the global development organization
  • Coordinate with Agile teams within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), actively monitoring and improving the overall health, predictability, and velocity of the teams as well as the larger Agile Release Train
  • Partner with development, functional test, and system test personnel to meet product requirements
  • Promote reliable automated test engineering through robust design patterns, process, and tooling
  • Work closely with system architects, software engineering, continuous integration, and release teams to achieve a culture of continuous delivery
  • Mentor less experienced personnel, and encourage knowledge sharing and learning among the development community
The Essentials- you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred- you might also have:
  • Typically requires 5 years of software engineering experience with demonstrated professional development in software design, testware, tool development and software development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent knowledge in the application of software engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
  • Willingness to take on a technical leadership role in a large-sized team
  • Previous experience working with test architectures preferably with real-time embedded development environments
  • Develop and maintain automated tests and tools in Python
  • Experience developing software to meet safety and security standards such as IEC 61508 or IEC 62443
  • Past technical leadership experience in an agile development setting
  • In depth knowledge of software engineering and application of engineering principles and practices in a related field
  • Experience working with industrial protocols, especially Common Industrial Protocol (CIP)
  • Advanced courses or degree in engineering, computer science or controls
