Ontic is a leading global aerospace OEM trusted by the world's aviation leaders. Ontic's Chatsworth, CA, site specializes in precision engineering, MRO, and new solutions for parts at risk of obsolescence. With over 1,400 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace.

Our team is looking for a Test Engineer to join them. You will report to the Test Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in Chatsworth, CA.

To be considered for the Test Engineer role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • 5+ years of experience in electronics, electromechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics field working with test stands in a production environment.

  • Relevant Experience automating test equipment and measurement techniques to verify/validate product requirements using Labview. CLD preferred.

  • Familiarity with National Instruments platforms including DAQmx, PXI, and cRIO.

  • Understanding of instrumentation, interfaces, and sensors including DMMs, DAQ, power supplies, oscilloscopes, DIO, GPIB, USB, Serial-422, VISA, UDP, GigE, SPI, switch technologies/topologies, accelerometers, RTDs, thermocouples, and 4-20mA sensors.

  • Understanding and experience in environmental testing such as vibration, shock, thermal, and burn-in.

  • Understanding of electrical schematics and electronics manufacturing to analyze/improve test coverage

  • Experience developing functional test plans from product requirements and analysis of schematics

  • The ability to create Labview code and GUI from scratch to meet ATP requirements and the ability to correlate to previous test methods.

As a Test Engineer, you will:

  • Design, build, and assess test equipment as well as products to ensure proper functionality.

  • Ensure production test equipment runs smoothly and prevents costly breakdowns or malfunctions.

  • Design/Build test stands to support production and create automated PLC and data acquisition programs using commercially available software such as LabView; Utilize troubleshooting and failure analysis to determine root cause of test equipment malfunctions while using engineering documents and applicable specifications.

  • Write testing instructions and provide detailed information and guidelines by accurately following the acceptance test procedure.

  • Keep others informed of work progress, timetables, and issues.

  • Address problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions.

  • Monitor and assure all processes and practices are in place and maintained to produce quality products that have complete part and assembly traceability.

  • Provide required training and auditing to assure that system transactions and data entry are processed accurately and in a timely manner to support system integrity and product quality.

  • Assure adherence to all FAA regulations.

  • Promote continuous improvement to improve processes on an ongoing basis to reduce production time and product quality.

  • Manage all resources (space, tools, instructions, training, and materials) in order to support production/request in a cost-effective manner and within established budget.
