About the Role

The Reconditioning Manager leads Ever's end-to-end vehicle reconditioning operation, overseeing inspection, mechanical and cosmetic repairs, detailing, quality control, vendor management, and production planning. This role is accountable for delivering retail-ready vehicles safely, efficiently, and at the quality standards expected by Ever while leading a high-performing team.

What You'll Own

  • Build and lead day-to-day reconditioning operations, consistently achieving throughput, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Develop and maintain quality standards that reflect the Ever brand—not just "good enough."
  • Lead, coach, and develop technicians and team leads, creating career paths and a high-performance culture.
  • Create, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) as the operation scales.
  • Own production planning and capacity management to meet current and future business demands.
  • Drive continuous improvement through structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies.
  • Monitor key operational metrics, identify risks early, and communicate proactive solutions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Inventory, Parts, Logistics, Sales, and Service teams to remove operational barriers and ensure vehicles are delivered on time.

WIP Management

  • Own the vehicle workflow from intake through retail-ready completion, maintaining visibility into every unit within the pipeline.
  • Manage work-in-progress (WIP) limits to prevent bottlenecks, reduce aging inventory, and improve cycle time.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and seamless handoffs at every stage of the reconditioning process.
  • Manage vendor turnaround times and proactively escalate stalled vehicles or operational blockers.

Team Development

  • Build and lead structured onboarding, training, and certification programs for technicians and service advisors.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions, providing competency-based feedback and clear development plans.
  • Identify skill gaps and implement targeted coaching to improve individual and team performance.
  • Create career progression opportunities that support employee retention and long-term growth.
  • Coach service advisors on documentation standards, customer communication, and operational ownership.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, recognition, continuous learning, and operational excellence.

Qualifications & Fit

  • 5+ years of automotive service or reconditioning experience.
  • 3+ years leading technicians or production teams.
  • Strong understanding of used vehicle inspections, mechanical repair, cosmetic repair, detailing, and vendor management.
  • Experience in high-volume dealership, auction, CarMax, Carvana, EchoPark, OEM, or EV environments preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for EVs and operational excellence.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (21+).

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of dealership management systems and inventory software.
  • Understanding of EV systems and high-voltage safety preferred.
  • Ability to analyze operational KPIs and production reports.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work indoors and outdoors around moving vehicles and shop equipment.
  • Safely operate vehicles throughout the facility.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary + performance bonus
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • PTO
  • 401(k) plan

Why Ever and this Role?

  • Lead one of the fastest-growing EV reconditioning operations in the U.S.
  • Work with the latest EV brands and technology.
  • Directly influence customer experience and vehicle quality.
  • Help shape the future of automotive retail.
