ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Energy Storage Asset Manager to own the performance, reliability, and maintenance of our Megapack energy storage fleet supporting SpaceXAI's AI infrastructure in Memphis. You will serve as the primary owner of day-to-day operations, service coordination with Tesla, and long-term asset optimization for one of the largest and most critical battery deployments powering AI training.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Memphis, Tennessee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor the health and performance of the existing Megapack fleet in real time, tracking key metrics such as availability, energy throughput, efficiency, temperature, alarms, and state of health.
  • Create and manage Tesla service tickets for technical issues, providing detailed logs, data, and documentation to enable fast and effective resolution.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and liaison with Tesla Field Service technicians, offering onsite coordination to remove blockers, support efficient execution, and ensure high-quality, timely completion of work.
  • Escalate critical or complex issues to Tesla support engineering or management when necessary, while actively driving resolution and minimizing downtime.
  • Help control and optimize Megapack operations to best support SpaceXAI's power demands and AI infrastructure requirements.
  • Own all maintenance activities for Megapack transformers, including identifying manufacturer-recommended schedules, coordinating with transformer manufacturers and contractors, and overseeing execution of preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Lead the design and placement of O&M infrastructure (access platforms, cooling, electrical tie-ins, fire protection, etc.) to ensure long-term serviceability and reliability.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and oversee all preventive maintenance, firmware updates, and corrective repairs performed by Tesla.
  • Perform site inspections, quality assurance checks, and post-maintenance validation to ensure work meets SpaceXAI standards and safety requirements.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends, degradation patterns, and optimization opportunities; collaborate with Tesla and internal SpaceXAI teams on improvements.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, service reports, downtime events, spare parts usage, and key performance metrics.
  • Support the commissioning of new Megapack deployments and their integration with SpaceXAI facilities.
  • Ensure full compliance with all safety protocols, Tesla procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and local regulations.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis for incidents and contribute to continuous improvement of Megapack operations and maintenance strategies.
  • Provide on-call support for urgent operational and maintenance issues as required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven track record coordinating with OEM field service teams and managing vendor relationships in a mission-critical environment.
  • Experience with maintenance planning, asset management, and regulatory compliance for high-voltage energy infrastructure.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to drive issues to resolution under time pressure.
  • Comfortable working onsite in an industrial/data center environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Direct experience with Tesla Megapack deployment, operations, and service processes.
  • Background in data center power infrastructure or hyperscale energy management.
  • Familiarity with transformer maintenance, high-voltage electrical systems, and fire protection standards.
  • Data analysis skills (Python, SQL, or similar) for performance trending and optimization.
  • Knowledge of local Memphis-area regulations and utility requirements.
  • Previous experience in 24/7 operational environments with on-call responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Position is subject to pre-employment and annual post-employment background checks.
  • Comfortable working in an environment requiring exposure to noise and industrial conditions.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and provide on-call support as needed for urgent operational issues.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds and work at heights when performing site inspections.
