Job Summary:
Tesla is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join their Storage Infrastructure team, focusing on building and operating exabyte scale on-premises object storage systems that expose the AWS S3 API. The role involves managing large-scale data, developing server software using Rust, and ensuring the reliability and performance of Tesla's massive datasets.
Responsibilities:
• Be a member of Tesla’s storage team that is responsible for providing archive storage and bucket moving capabilities for Tesla’s on-prem object storage, while leveraging the AWS S3 API
• Help manage large-scale data (exabytes) on multiple types of storage devices
• Develop server software using Rust
• Deploy code that will be used by thousands of servers with high availability requirements
• Help implement database migrations with zero downtime
• Work on improving performance of database queries
• Debug and define new database schemas
Qualifications:
Required:
• Understanding of modern object storage APIs (specifically AWS S3 API)
• Strong knowledge of databases (Postgres is a plus)
• Strong software development experience, and experience working on large-scale projects
• Comfortable implementing database migrations with zero downtime (i.e., when transitioning between critical dependencies)
• Experience implementing sharding and partitioning
