Job description

Job Summary:
Tesla is a company focused on accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. The Diagnostics Platform team is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable backend systems for Tesla's clean energy products, ensuring their reliability and performance.
Responsibilities:
• Architect and build highly scalable, distributed backend systems to support Tesla's global fleet of energy products
• Develop robust data pipelines for ingesting and processing massive streams of diagnostic information in near real-time
• Design and implement APIs that provide critical insights into the performance and health of our energy storage and generation assets
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and operations teams to create a cohesive diagnostic ecosystem that accelerates our ability to service and improve our products
• Drive the technical vision for the future of energy product diagnostics, focusing on reliability and scale
Qualifications:
Required:
• Excellent knowledge of any modern programming language (Scala, Golang, C++, Python, Rust, etc.)
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale
• A solid foundation in computer science, with expertise in data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message queues (e.g., Kafka, NATS)
• Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and CI/CD practices
