Job Description:
The Department of Finance and Business Analytics in the Neidorff School of Business at Trinity University invites applications for a full-time tenure-line faculty position in Finance - Calgaard Professor of Real Estate at the ranks of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, beginning August 9, 2027. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or DBA degree in finance or a closely
related field, such as Real Estate or Economics, from a AACSB-accredited program. Candidates should have a record of effective teaching in finance and / or real estate courses and scholarly publications in the real estate area.
A successful candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality undergraduate courses in finance and real estate. The standard teaching load is five courses per academic year (3-2 teaching load). Each course is based on 3 contact hours per week, with an average class size of 20-25 students. Faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda and participate in service at the department, school, and university-levels. Trinity faculty have many opportunities to engage in experiential learning, undergraduate research, industry-engaged research, interdisciplinary teaching and research, and faculty-led study abroad programs. As the department continues to build its real estate program, the successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the program's curriculum, developing industry partnerships, and creating high-impact student learning experiences.

The Department of Finance and Business Analytics offers two undergraduate majors-Finance and Business Analytics-and is home to 13 dedicated faculty committed to teaching excellence and student success. The Finance group, a close-knit team of six faculty supporting about 90 majors, delivers a rigorous and applied curriculum grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Students gain hands-on experience through the Student Managed Fund, Bloomberg Lab, and national competitions that connect classroom learning to real-world finance. The Student Managed Fund is one of the largest undergraduate funds in the nation, currently managing a portfolio of $ 19 million. The department fosters a collaborative, student-centered environment that emphasizes teaching innovation, student career readiness, and the integration of finance and analytics.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Advising
- Primarily teach the real estate courses, as well as other finance courses based on departmental needs.
- Develop and update course materials to ensure relevance, rigor, and alignment with departmental learning goals.
- Hold regular office hours and provide academic support to students.
- Contribute to the design and development of the real estate curriculum as the department continues to build its real estate program.
- Use active learning, experiential, and technology-enhanced teaching approaches to engage undergraduate students.
- Create meaningful student learning experiences that connect classroom learning with real estate practice, including applied projects, case studies, site visits, guest speakers, and industry engagement.
- Support undergraduate research, independent studies, and other student-centered experiential learning opportunities in real estate when appropriate.
- Provide academic advising to students regarding course selection and progression in the finance curriculum.
- Advise and mentor students on career paths, internships, and professional certifications in real estate.
Research
- Engage in consistent and productive research and scholarly activities that result in quality publications and other intellectual contributions in the real estate area.
- Maintain an active research agenda appropriate to rank.
- Pursue opportunities for applied, industry-engaged, or interdisciplinary research, including collaborations with real estate firms, professional associations, community partners, and other stakeholders when appropriate.
- Support the department's broader goal of connecting faculty research with student learning, industry engagement, and regional real estate needs.
Department, School, and University Service
- Play a leadership role in building and advancing the department's real estate program, including curriculum development, industry partnership development, and student experiential learning opportunities.
- Help cultivate relationships with alumni, employers, professional organizations, and real estate industry partners to support student learning, internships, career opportunities, and program visibility.
- Serve on committees at the department, school, and university levels appropriate to rank.
- Participate in departmental and school meetings, especially discussions related to curriculum development and student success.
- Support departmental initiatives such as major declaration events, open houses, and student recruitment activities, career programing, and alumni engagement.
- Contribute to creating a collegial, student-centered environment within the Department of Finance and Business Analytics and the Neidorff School of Business.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Required:
- Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related discipline from an AACSB-accredited program.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Teaching experience in undergraduate finance courses.
- A portfolio of research outcomes, demonstrated by a record of quality publications in real estate.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching a range of undergraduate real estate courses, such as real estate finance, real estate investment, real estate development, or real estate analytics.
- Ability to teach undergraduate finance courses based on departmental needs.
- Commitment to undergraduate student mentoring, advising, and student success.
