Description
The Department of Psychology at The College of Wooster seeks a tenure-track assistant professor with skills in addressing the needs and interests of a diverse student body to begin in August 2021. Specialization is open, but courses should reflect the diversity of human experiences, such as Psychology of the Black Experience, Multicultural Psychology, Race and Mental Health, Psychology of Immigration, Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, etc. We are especially interested in hiring faculty who can contribute to the intellectual vibrancy and diversity of the academic community through their teaching, research, and service, and we encourage applicants whose teaching and/or research can engage with one or more interdisciplinary programs at the College, such as Africana Studies, Urban Studies, Education, or the Pre-Health program. The College of Wooster enrolls a diverse student body (22% domestic students of color and 16% international students); all applicants are expected to discuss their experience working with diverse student populations. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to teach courses and advise research projects in their area of interest. They will teach the equivalent of five and a half courses, including introductory and advanced courses as well as courses for non-majors, and credited supervision of independent thesis projects as part of the College's Independent Study program (typically for a full course credit).
