Job description

SUMMARY
The Tennis Instructor is responsible for teaching and instructing tennis lessons to children and adults. The Tennis Instructor is responsible for performing the essential functions as outlined in the description. Tennis Instructors are part-time employees.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 15 years old
  • The ability to effectively communicate with the public and staff
  • An interest and enthusiasm for developing tennis skills in people of all ages
  • POSITIVE "CAN-DO" TEAM ATTITUDE

SUPERVISION
The Tennis Instructor reports directly to the Head Tennis Professional.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of the public, fellow employees, and themselves
  • Keep daily tennis-lesson attendance records
  • Teach lessons to children and adults
  • In order to maintain a high level of service, the Tennis Instructor - Professional is encouraged to continue to develop him/her/themself professionally. Training sessions and staff meetings are thus mandatory and are an important part of the job. The Tennis Instructor - Professional is required to attend all meetings and will be compensated at the hourly rate
  • Check all equipment and supplies and report any repairs or replacement needs to the head professional
  • Maintain open and frequent communication with the head professional
  • Enforce Champaign Park District policies and procedures
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times
  • Promote programs and lessons
  • Other assigned duties

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for assisting other tennis staff as needed

PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Tennis instructors/professionals must be able to respond to problem situations in a professional and mature manner within the policies and procedures of the Champaign Park District

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Must be able to maintain rigorous lesson schedules during peak seasons

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Must be able to work in hot and sunny conditions when lessons are scheduled on outside courts
