What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tender manager?

To thrive as a Tender Manager, you need strong project management abilities, commercial acumen, and a solid understanding of procurement processes, often supported by a relevant degree in business or engineering. Familiarity with tender management software, e-procurement systems, and contract management tools is typically required. Excellent attention to detail, persuasive communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure are vital soft skills in this role. These skills ensure that high-quality, competitive bids are submitted on time, increasing the company's chances of winning contracts and driving business growth.

What are the main challenges a tender manager faces when coordinating responses to complex bids?

Tender Managers often face the challenge of aligning input from multiple departments—such as legal, finance, and technical teams—within tight deadlines. Ensuring that all documentation meets client requirements, while maintaining accuracy and compliance, requires strong organizational and communication skills. Additionally, balancing several bids simultaneously can be demanding, making effective time management and prioritization crucial. Successful Tender Managers are proactive in addressing potential bottlenecks and regularly update stakeholders to keep the process on track.

Both roles require similar credentials and are vital in industries that rely on competitive bidding and procurement processes.

How much do tender managers make in the US?

Tender managers in the US typically earn between $70,000 and $120,000 annually, depending on experience, industry, and location. Senior or specialized tender managers with certifications and extensive experience can earn higher salaries, often exceeding $130,000. Compensation may also include bonuses and benefits related to project size and company size.

About Fulfillment IQ (FIQ)

Fulfillment IQ is a supply chain engineering and transformation company that helps brands, retailers, and 3PLs design, build, and scale high-performance logistics operations.

We work at the intersection of strategy, supply chain, and technology where we solve complex, real-world problems across warehouse design, automation, order management, transportation, and end-to-end supply chain execution.

Our teams combine deep domain expertise with strong technical capability, delivering outcomes through consulting, systems implementation, and proprietary platforms that accelerate time-to-value and reduce delivery risk.

If you enjoy working in complex environments, partnering closely with clients, and seeing your work make a tangible impact on how global commerce moves, this is the place where your skills and judgment truly come to life.

Role Overview

FIQ is seeking an onshore TMS Solution Architect to support Oracle-led discovery and Conference Room Pilot (CRP) sessions for a client's Manhattan Active TMS implementation. The immediate focus is assessing feasibility for, and demonstrating, dock scheduling and carrier communication capabilities within MATM. The successful candidate will then transition into the broader Daimler-onto-MATM onboarding project starting in early 2027, ultimately covering the full transportation management flow (carrier setup and procurement, contract management, shipment planning, tender management, dock scheduling, and carrier communication).

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the business, operations and technology stakeholders to lead and support transportation management requirements.
  • Assess feasibility of implementing dock scheduling and carrier communication capabilities within Manhattan Active TMS.
  • Demonstrate/pilot dock scheduling and carrier communication functionality as part of the CRP process.
  • Document solution design, design decisions, extending design work to the full TMS flow — carrier setup, contract management, carrier procurement, shipment planning, and tender.
  • Onboarding sites, carriers on Manhattan-TMS.
  • Provide continuity of design knowledge across both phases, reducing ramp-up risk for the broader implementation.
  • Travel onsite to Irvine, CA up to 3 days/week.
Must-Have Qualifications
  • This is a techno-functional solution architect role, not a purely functional or purely technical one.
  • Has deep functional knowledge of Manhattan TMS (Manhattan Active TMS preferred) — carrier management, contract/rate management, shipment planning, tendering, dock scheduling, and carrier communication.
  • Understands how MATM integrates with WMS/ERP systems at a solution-design level (techno-functional), without needing deep expertise in integration protocols, mappings, or cloud security/NFR work — those are treated as a separate technical workstream, not part of this role.
  • Is comfortable operating as a Solution Architect / Design Lead rather than a configuration specialist or pure consultant. This role is scoped above hands-on configuration work.
  • Has prior experience supporting Manhattan TM implementations or multi-system transformation programs, ideally in manufacturing, high-tech, CPG, retail, or logistics verticals.
  • Is available to start immediately and commit to a multi-phase engagement (design phase now, continuing directly into the onboarding implementation).
  • Is based onshore in US and able to travel to Irvine, CA up to 3 days/week during active CRP sessions.

Base salary: 140,000K - 160,000K for full-time

Contract: 120/hr - 150/hr (depending on if onsite at client in Irvine, CA or in Atlanta, GA and traveling to Irvine, CA.
