Job description

The Opportunity:

We have upcoming openings for Temporary Archaeological Field Technicians to work in Utah and Nevada based out of our Salt Lake City office.


What We Offer:

  • Compensation - This position is paid on an hourly basis between $22 - $26 per hour, depending on experience and Per diem, which is $68 per day for hotel-based projects and $120 per day for camping-based projects, will be provided for all non-local fieldwork. Logan Simpson will provide single-occupancy hotel rooms for all hotel-based projects.
  • Benefits - Temporary staff members are eligible for paid sick leave, 8 paid holidays, eligibility for a healthcare program through ACRA (American Cultural Resources Association), and for eligible temporary staff members, the firm offers a $150 field gear stipend and a retention bonus program.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Participating in pedestrian archaeological surveys as a crew member, under the supervision of a field director or crew lead, throughout the Great Basin and/or the Southwest.
  • Interact and work well as a team member.

What You'll Bring:

  • Education and/or experience in the Great Basin or Southwest.
  • Ability to identify archaeological artifacts and features.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and in remote locations (camping is a possibility).
  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day over steep terrain for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to work field sessions up to 8 days in a row.
  • The ability to work out-of-town.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices such as smart phones and tablets for digital data collection (iOS operating system experience a plus).
  • Ability to work cooperatively with crew members and supervisors is a must.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (in process or complete) in Anthropology or Archaeology.
  • Completion of an accredited field school.
