Temporary Workday Security Analyst information

What is a temporary Workday security analyst?

Temporary Workday Security Analysts are professionals hired on a short-term or contract basis to manage and maintain the security settings within Workday, a popular cloud-based human resources and finance platform. Their primary responsibilities include configuring user access, monitoring security roles, troubleshooting access issues, and ensuring compliance with organizational security policies. They often assist during system implementations, upgrades, or peak workload periods. This role requires a strong understanding of Workday's security framework and best practices for data protection. Temporary analysts help organizations maintain secure operations while providing flexibility in staffing.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temporary Workday security analyst?

To thrive as a Temporary Workday Security Analyst, you need a strong understanding of Workday security configuration, user access management, and compliance principles, usually backed by experience with HRIS or ERP systems. Familiarity with Workday platform tools, security reporting, and relevant certifications such as Workday Security or Workday Pro are highly valued. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication help in identifying risks and collaborating with cross-functional teams. These skills ensure the protection of sensitive data, regulatory compliance, and smooth business operations within the organization.

What are the typical challenges faced by a temporary Workday security analyst when joining a new organization?

As a Temporary Workday Security Analyst, one common challenge is quickly understanding the organization's unique Workday security configuration and access policies. Since each company customizes Workday to fit their business needs, you'll need to rapidly assess existing roles, permissions, and segregation of duties. Collaborating with HR, IT, and compliance teams is crucial to ensure security best practices are upheld while meeting project deadlines. Additionally, adapting to the organization's documentation standards and communication channels will help you contribute effectively during your limited engagement.

At Harvey, we're transforming how legal and professional services operate. By combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise, we're reshaping how critical knowledge work gets done for decades to come.
This is a rare chance to help build a generational company at a true inflection point. We have strong product-market fit and world-class investor support. We're scaling fast and defining a new category in real time. The work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth - personal, professional, and financial - is unmatched.
Our team moves fast, takes ownership, and is deeply committed to the mission - operating with intensity, staying close to our customers, and pushing each other for excellence. We live by three values: Decisiveness, Simplicity, and Job's Not Finished. We act quickly on clear judgment over perfect information, we believe simplicity is what scales, and we're never satisfied with where we are. If you want to do the best work of your career alongside people who share that drive, we'd love to build with you.
At Harvey, the future of professional services is being written today - and we're just getting started.
Role Overview
We're seeking a Senior People Systems Analyst to join our Corporate IT team and serve as the technical owner for Workday HCM, integrations, and security architecture.
As Harvey continues its rapid global expansion, you will play a critical role in ensuring our core HR systems are scalable, secure, and seamlessly connected to our broader tech stack. You will own the configuration and maintenance of advanced business processes, oversee complex integration architecture, and rigorously manage our Workday security model to ensure compliance and data integrity.
What You'll Do
  • HCM Configuration & Support: Serve as the primary Workday specialist for HCM configuration, optimizing and maintaining core HR data, organizational structures, and worker lifecycles.
  • Integration Architecture: Design, build, and troubleshoot Workday integrations (e.g., EIBs, Core Connectors, RAAS, Studio) to connect Workday with critical downstream systems.
  • Security Model Management: Own the Workday security configuration, including domain security policies, business process security, role-based access controls (RBAC), and masking policies. Ensure the system is audit-ready and sensitive HR data is properly segmented.
  • Advanced Business Processes: Configure, test, and deploy complex business processes, condition rules, and approval routings to automate manual HR workflows and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with People Operations, Security, Data Engineering, and Finance to gather requirements, resolve data discrepancies, and support strategic initiatives.
  • Release Management: Manage Workday release cycles, including testing new features, running regression tests, and deploying updates to production.
What You Have
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Workday configuration and administration, with deep expertise in Workday HCM.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and managing Workday integration architecture (EIBs, Core Connectors, API connections).
  • Extensive knowledge of Workday security configuration (domain/business process security, role-based access, and audit compliance).
  • Advanced proficiency in Workday Business Process Framework configuration (condition rules, notifications, advanced routing).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and ambiguous environment.

Bonus Points
  • Workday Pro Certification in HCM, Integrations, or Security.
  • Prior experience managing integrations with Snowflake, Carta, or Ashby.
  • Experience scaling Workday for a high-growth, global technology company.

Compensation
$136,000 - $200,000 USD
