Legal Secretary - North Las Vegas, NV (Onsite)

Reports To: Litigation Counsel

Overview

An experienced Legal Secretary is needed to provide high-level administrative and litigation support to a busy legal department. This role is essential in managing the full lifecycle of civil litigation matters, from initial filing through discovery and trial preparation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines and procedural requirements.

Job Summary

The Legal Secretary will support attorneys by preparing litigation documents, managing case files, coordinating schedules, and ensuring all court filings and deadlines are met. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for a seasoned legal professional with strong civil litigation experience.

Key Responsibilities

Document Preparation

  • Draft, format, and proofread litigation documents including summons, complaints, answers, motions, and discovery requests
  • Ensure all documents comply with local, state, and federal court rules
  • Prepare exhibits, binders, and trial notebooks

Case Management

  • Maintain and organize complex digital and physical case files
  • Manage pleading clips, discovery indices, and case calendars
  • Track statutory deadlines, including Statutes of Limitations

Court Filings

  • Execute timely filings in state and federal courts
  • Utilize e-filing systems with accuracy and compliance
  • Understand and apply various judicial rules and procedures

Discovery Support

  • Assist with document production and evidence collection
  • Manage redaction, Bates-stamping, and organization of discovery materials
  • Coordinate with internal departments for document retrieval

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Manage attorney calendars proactively
  • Schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates
  • Coordinate with court reporters, process servers, and external vendors

Communication

  • Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
  • Draft correspondence and transcribe dictation
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of civil litigation experience strongly preferred
  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree or Legal Secretary Certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of civil procedure and litigation terminology
  • Proficiency with legal practice management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
