Job description

This role is accountable for the long-term vision and roadmap for digital products that advance Vanguard's Fund Ecosystem strategy across Investment Management Services and Middle and Back Office functions. Oversees large, complex, multi-stakeholder product families with deep knowledge of the products, related business areas, and investment management practices. These digital products have cross division-wide impact across the Finance, Investment Management Group, and Enterprise.

What it Takes:
As the Head of Fund Ecosystem Technology and DPM, you will be accountable for developing a team of digital product managers and specialists in leading the charge to establish and advance the long-term strategic vision and roadmap of digital products that enable the Fund Ecosystem (Investment Management Services and Middle and Back Office functions) and fuel large, complex, multi-stakeholder digital product families. Your role will involve anticipating challenges and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, Investment Management Group and Banking partners, to ensure seamless execution of the long-term strategy.
Responsibilities:
Builds Enduring, Autonomous Teams: Develops individuals and teams that are empowered to operate independently and consistently deliver strong outcomes. Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
Strategic Vision and Planning: Defines and executes a clear digital product strategy aligned to organizational goals, market trends, and future needs, positioning the Fund Ecosystem to leverage emerging technologies for competitive advantage.
Collaboration and Relationship Building: Builds trusted partnerships across business department heads, IT, third-party providers, and other stakeholders through strong collaboration, clear communication, and effective relationship management to promote a consistent approach to decisions/impacts and client propositions. Drives connection across all appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
Digital Product Management Excellence: Applies strong digital product management practices, including agile methods, user-centered design, cloud-based solutions, and Middle and Back Office technology expertise, to guide products across the full lifecycle and continuously improve outcomes.
Change Leadership: Leads teams through change in a rapidly evolving technology environment by promoting adaptability, addressing resistance, and aligning teams to the Fund Ecosystem's strategic direction and objectives.
Risk Management and Compliance: Applies knowledge of global risk frameworks and regulatory requirements for asset servicing and counterparty operations to embed risk management and compliance into the technology strategy.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of ten years of relevant Delivery experience and ten years of experience in leading product delivery initiatives.

  • Previous people-leadership experience within the Investment Management and Financial Services Industry.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required. Graduate degree preferred.
